Greetings to my fellow Gilmore Girls fans! It's been a busy week here, so forgive the abbreviated summary; I just wanted to be sure to open up an official forum for discussing the most recent episode, 'Lorelai's First Cotilion'.
Brief summary:
Lorelai expects the worst possible reaction from her parents when she tells them that she and Luke ended their engagement, but is upset when they don't have much of a response at all; Lane is surprised when Zach has no reaction to her pregnancy announcement; Calling in an old I.O.U, Michel forces Lorelai to take him to a cotillion that Emily organized; and Rory finds an unusual way of expressing her feelings to Logan, who's still in London.
For my part, I didn't care much for Rory's suggestive text messaging at all. I know her character has changed a lot, but I still don't think it's something that she would do. It's too weird and un-Rory-like.
I liked Lorelai's reaction to the cotilion - it was nice to see her accepting of something that her mother planned since she spent so much of her life rejecting those things. It wouldn't hurt her to try to understand Emily's perspective a little more often, IMO, and attending one of her events is a step in that direction (even if Michel did force her to go).
Lane and Zach were great. As was the case last week, they had me laughing more than anyone else. It's totally old and cliche to transparently accuse Brian of being upset over things when it's clearly Zach, but somehow, it worked for me. I could totally see a young, newlywed couple freaking out over an unplanned pregnancy and handling it in that kind of fashion.
And as for Christopher... I still don't like it. Yuck.
So, comment away!

I can't get into Lorelai's issues and problems at all this season. I don't know, I just can't care all that much.
Lane and Zach are the best part of this season. I loved their reactions to 'the news'.
I love the whole Lane and Zack stuff...really funny. I'd like to see Michele and Sookie more.
Amanda, like Janet already said, the writers are different, because the producer is different. The creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, left, and now someone else is running the show. It definitely has a different feel as a result of the change.
