Jack Nicholson at his very best, sardonic, sarcastic, witty & above all a force to be reckoned with! Combine him with some the best young actors, in Irish South Boston then add in some Mafioso Italians, some sinister Chinese hoodlums & a batch of crooked cops, mix well & you have a 2 hr. 34 min. thriller that is worth seeing at least once!

Frank Costello, Jack's character is the quintessential Irish South Boston gangster with all of the power, sentiment of the Irish & ruthlessness you would expect such guy to have. Violent is a description that comes to mind but then again it is about a violent subject, in a violent time & deals with the reality of violence as it is today in South Boston's narrow streets, alleys & bars.

Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen & a supporting cast that is excellent make this a great movie! Do not miss this one!

We just got back a little while ago from seeing it...........it is a very well made movie and the acting was superb. Nicholson is at his very evil best........but is Costello an Irish name? I thought he was supposed to be Italian.... I must have missed something. I know Matt Damon and Leonardo Di Caprio were supposed to be Irish......

...........you forgot Alex Baldwin who is also in it.

Thanks for the reveiw Donald. I love everybody in the movie. I may have to check this out. I'm assumimg it's out on dvd? I will make a note of the title for myself.
