Do you ever have one of those days when your timing just seems to be off? From missing a bus, to tripping on a stair, to being just a beat slow when trying to leave a phone message (all these things happened to me just the other day!). When things seem to be "out of sync," you just can't seem to do anything right, or you miss an opportunity.
It's as if your energy is at odds with the energy around you, like two negative magnets facing each other. It can lead to a sense of not being able to win, or feeling as if the world is somehow against you.
Actually, stress is a major factor in throwing us off-kilter and making us feel out of sync. Negative emotions like anxiety, anger, or worry can literally send signals through our nervous systems that can interfere with our mental focus and physical movement, making us clumsier or blocking our concentration. So, how do you get yourself back on track?
One thing that I've found very helpful is to practice deep breathing. Our bodies are made up of energy fields and so are the environments we live in. When you breathe in slowly and deeply, you are actually helping to cleanse this negative energy.
So the next time you find yourself "out of sync," try taking a moment to breathe in slowly and deeply, hold it for a count of five, and then exhale slowly and deeply. You can repeat this until you begin to feel more calm and centered, and back "in sync."
