Diverse Gather members, Mandi G, and Auntie Smedley, are the co-recipients of this week's
'Spirit of Community' Member Award !
For the first time (in the very short history of the award) there will be two recipients. Since I try to keep the award timely by recognizing recent actions, both Mandi and Auntie Smedley made notable contributions to the strengthening of the Gather community during the past week.
Mandi G. was selected for her valiant and tireless efforts in the grassroots campaign for Christopher Bell, and his guide dog, to obtain a roommate or other accommodation for the upcoming Gather anniversary cruise.
It is unique contributions like Mandi and Auntie's that help to make Gather such a special community.
Congratulations to you both..! ...and thanks for everything you do!
_______________________________________About the 'Spirit of Community' Member Award
It takes more than exceptional content to create a vibrant, active community like Gather. It also needs the contributions of members that strengthen the Gather community and foster a welcoming, supportive and positive atmosphere for others.
Community building on Gather can be just as important as the content we publish, and merits acknowledgement, and a little applause from time to time.
Therefore, I identify one Gather member each week who symbolizes these characteristics, and acknowledge their community building efforts through the 'Spirit of Community' Member Award.
Awards are announced each Friday, and will appear as the featured article in the 'Spirit of Community' Member Awards Group.
Nominations are more than welcome. If you know of an individual member, like Mandi or Auntie Smedley, that exemplifies the spirit of our community here on Gather, please publish your nomination to the group, or send me a mail message.

As Auntie's agent, co-commenter, and ballroom dance partner, I accept the award on Auntie's behalf. I want to thank the Gather community for this illustrious award. It will look good on my desk next to my leg lamp. I'll let her see it on occasion. ;)

Congratulations to both Auntie and Mandi!....I do agree with David R. though.......................their contributions merit individual recognition!
There is a monetary reward involved, right?
Thanks so much for thining of me.. I don't feel I deserve and "award" for anything though. I only wrote a few articles and mass emailed 700 people....probably pissing them off, but whats new.
As for the monetary award, you can mail Auntie's check to me and I will make sure she gets it..not really ;-)
