Ever hear a song that is so sweet, sugary, fluffy tasty, and momentarily satisfying that you return to it time and time again?  That's the definition of a "Tasty Pop-Filled Donut".  What are some of your favorite TPFD songs?

Heaven - Psychedelic Furs
That's a good one static. I love that song.

Although the lyrics are depressing, "Bittersweet Symphony" musically is delish. So lush and dense like a good layer cake.

Joanne - Oh my gosh! Sugar Sugar by the Archies? I haven't thought about that song since I...well, since I was about 10 years old, but according to my Grandpa, when I was not much older than the pic on my profile (see Coming Out - of the drawer) I would sing that song CONSTANTLY - It was the first song to really make an impact on my young mind...and my swiveling hips. When I was growing up, my Pops would suddenly get this whistful look on his face, and when I asked what was up, he would just chuckle and say, "That's my little "Honey Honey, Sugar Sugar. I can still see you singing that song."

Thanks for the Tasty-Sugar/Sweet memory! And Birdie: Numa Numa has been pounding through my home since my boys discovered it sometime last year. And you're right...you can't stop singing that damned thing. Thanks for putting it back in my mind! ;-)

Back to ABBA, yes new fav. Disco sucked in the 70s, but it's perfectly acceptable now.

Joanne, that's a good observation. Disco was so thoroughly rejected in the 80s and 90s that people forgot that, like any genre, it's not all bad. I get the biggest kick out of The Current (the alternative MN public radio station here) because they have a DJ who loves to throw on an old disco tune every now and again. Nothing like a little KC and the Sunshine Band to make you wax nostalgic for the 70s.

From my bubblegum pop collection, "Chewy" by Ohio Express is exceptionally sweet, sticky, and earwormy.

'More than this' takes me back to everything that was good in my youth and puts me in such a sweet spot.

Anything that I can sing all the words to, Loudly.
I recorded a "cover" version of More Than This on my music equipment. I couldn't sing the high part so it ended up as a "duet" between Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Or a bad imitation of each. The music turned out real good, though.

Also, Brian Eno's "The River" is a pop donut. So languid and pretty. I recorded a cover of that too and made it more "country/western" with some good twangy guitar and fake pedal steel.

Totally with Donna on the Kokomo issue. It is slightly embarrassment compared to the real Beach Boys of earlier years yet it gets my ovaries bouncing all over the place.

For sweet fluffy dancing fun I'm going for Walking on Sunshine, Katrina and the Waves. (.. and yes, anything by Abba..)

This is totally off subject but, I'm suppose to play at the Midtown Market tomorrow at 9AM. The weather report says it's going to be 34 degrees but feel like 25 degrees with the wind factor............ should I just glue a slide to my gloves and play "Bottleneck Blues" all morning? Does anyone have a large electric heater they're not using right now? Ah, Minnesota...........

That's why Minnesota so desperately needs an outdoor baseball stadium! So that only the Minnesotans can truly enjoy October playoffs. (Seriously, there was an article in the Strib about how to best heat the new outdoor baseball stadium. Whaaaaa?)

Acually Frick, that's exactly what my wife said to do......... Anyway, it should be interesting to see how it goes. I just hope nobody starts throwing frozen tomatoes at us. That could hurt.
