I thought I'd be happy to be discharged from the Rancho Rio Linda Medical Spa but I wasn't. For one thing, I had no where to go. I couldn't very well head home because of Merlin and Coco the Siamese cat vigilantes. One close call with their shredder-like claws was enough for me.
The brilliant blue Mexican sky illuminated the golden key in my hand. The words of that beauteous gnome Swanhilda echoed in my mind. The Golden key will guide you. I pointed it towards north, hoping it might magically point the way to Iceland and Swanhilda but nothing happened. I tried rubbing it like like an Alladin's lamp. Nothing.
The indigo blue waves swelled and crested as I continued walking along the beach. The Pacific ocean stretched into infinity as my new Nike 'just do it' booties left imprints in the sand. In frustration in yanked them off. It felt good to wiggle my toes in the sand. Then I noticed something on the sole of my foot. Something I'd never seen before, a small mark. I turned my foot for a closer look. I read in horror the words stamped on my foot, "Made in China." China! I thought I was born in Sweden. At least that's what my parents had told me. Could it be true, that my roots were in China?
I held the golden key and simply asked, "Guide me to the correct direction." The key danced on its end and pointed towards the ocean. East, that much was clear but lots of places are east. I asked, "should I go to China." To my astonishment the key glowed a bright emerald green. That had to mean yes.
I gathered my belongings and suitcase. The suitcase formerly full of cash from my Vegas winnings. I opened the no longer bulging lid. Piles of twenties fluttered in the breeze. One question remained. Besides taking a the proverbial slow boat to China, how was I going to get there?
To be continued...

I guess Iraq is out too but we do need to keep a sense of adventure...
Kim Jung in the dust!
I did begin the story writing everyday but others complained that that they couldn't keep up. I asked members for feedback and got very little so I've cut back to posting two or three times a week. Additional suggestions are always welcome ...
