Yes, there is a Stonehedge in America..
Not to well known is a Memorial built in Washington State, in honor of World War One Veterins, by millionare Sam Hill, located just 3 miles from his mansion that was once called "The Castle Of Columbia" His home is now a world renowned museum, housing quite a few works of Art by the famous French sculper Auguste Rodin along with many other wonderful works of art.
The mansion has incredible grounds to walk around, with Peacocks roaming around that will eat right out of your hand..
But the piece de resistance is the replica of Stonehedge he had built right near the edge of the magnificent Columbia River Gorge..
But this Stonehedge has a twist...it was built the way his builders envisioned Stonehedge before it went to ruins...Yes, this version is what it must have looked like intact...
It is quite a sight right there above the gorge, very lonely looking and serene, his way of paying tribute to those soldiers of Klickitat County who lost their lives..
I wondered why he chose Stonehedge as a tribute, and found the answer....He was a pacifist and believed that the original Stonehedge had been used as a sacrificial site, therefore he had this replica constructed to remind us that "Humanity is still being sacrificed to the God of war"
This most unique monument sit's on the original Maryhill townsite...Hill's crypt is located a short walk southwest of Stonehedge, on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River....
It is quite a sight and one I will always remember.

I used to go to the English one as frequent visitor in the days when you just walked into it and around it, unhindered. These days it has to be protected for its continued preservation.
I lived in Oregon and never even knew this place was in Washington. I will have to go check it out the next time I travel threw there. Great info by the way.
Thanks
Thanks...I think I will write a few more of my experiences in that glorious state
