I am really getting geared up for the holidays. I give so many gift baskets out this time of year. It is getting cooler and people are indoors more. That means baking and cooking. I love the smell of fresh cookies while they are baking. Yummy! This is two great recipes for gifts in a jar. They make great hostess gifts or add to homemade gift baskets. I try to keep a few on hand for those unexpected guests. You know the ones i am talking about, the ones that just pop in to eat...yep, they expect food. There are lots of good reasons to make your own mixes. My main reasons are: They are cheaper,I know what is in them,I loveto prepare and give homemade foodGive these a try. Enjoy!
Crazy for Craisins Cookie Mix
2/3 cup sweetened dried cranberries (Craisins)
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted and cooled
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 cup baking mix (Jiffy, Bisquick)
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup baking mix
Layer and pack ingredients in canning jars in the order listed.
Yes, some ingredients are repeated. That's where the layering comes
in.
Attach following recipe to the jar:
Crazy for Craisins Cookies
Crazy for Craisins cookie mix
1 stick of butter or margarine, melted
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Empty contents of jar into a medium bowl. Stir in the remaining
ingredients until well-combined. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on
baking sheets coated with cooking spray (or use parchment paper).
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.
Makes 2-1/2 dozen cookies.
Outrageous Oatmeal-Raisin Cookie Mix
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup chopped nuts, toasted and cooled

1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 cup baking mix (Jiffy, Bisquick)
