My heart froze today in fear

When I turned on my TV this afternoon to watch my soap at 3 oclock, all of a sudden, a newsbreak was announced..."plane went into a building in New York" was what I heard..My heart just froze and I got shivers up and down my spine..

Who, What, Where, my fearful mind wanted to know. Memories of 9/11 came flooding back to me as I listened to the news..Praying there wouldn't be another. How could a plane just crash into a building like that and, in New York of all places..What about the people in the building or on the streets below....so terrifying, I just can't imagine what it was like for them. to see or be a part of this scenerio.

The time passed and the story unfolded to reveal it was a small plane, and the threat of terrorism did not reveal it's ugly head..But it brought to mind how vulnerable we still are and the fear is never far away..

My heart grieves for those on the plane and those unfortunate enough to be in harms way today.

My heart grieves for the fear that is still in my mind. That frozen fear.

rated a 10. yes i pay attention to breaking news, but i've always done that. after my electricity was fixed, when i turned on tv, it was that story. but they had already said it was a small plane and not terrorism.

sorry about the people who died. but stuff does happen. our lives are not risk-free.

I couldn't beleive it when I heard that on the news. I was at work and one of the girls came back and told me. I just can't figure out how a plan was allowed into the area. I don't care if it was a small one or not. It shouldn't have been there.

There are no flight restrictions in that area. I've heard they have tried to make it a no fly area, but it hasn't happened thanks to a judge who overturned the law.

I was sewing and thinking about the snow that has been forcast for tonight when I heard the news...my blood ran cold and it had nothing to do with the temperature...though I am sorry for the accident, I thank God it wasn't terrorism yet once again....

Oddly enough that wasn't my first thought and I watched 911 as it happened and could see the smoke & Manhatten skyline when I went outside and walked up the hill. I can't figure out why I just didn't feel that that's what it was.

911 forever changed our lives as we knew them but I refuse to live in constant fear. I will take the necessary steps to prepare in case of an emergency so I dont live in fear.

Since 9-11 I guess there is some fear in almost everyones heart.

I think the responsibility for all of our safety lies mostly with us. We need to be dilligent every day in our lives. We have to watch for the unlikely to happen. If the small airports are aware of who is loading planes, filing flight plans or not filing flight plans, then they should be the ones to blow the whistle. We can't depend on the F-18's to be there to blow anything out of the sky if it appears it's going to fly into a building. I think that's just common sense.

Yes, the White house promotes the fear, but it's hard not to feel it when something like this happens...

as for Nov 7th...if you mean election day..I've never missed an opportunity to vote...trouble is, my votes don't seem to be counted...at least that's the way I see it since the election was so messed up down here in florida..

As for the first responders, they should all be given medals........Homeland security should be given their job notices...it's a disgrace and one that will not be easily fixed, at least while our government is being run by this group of incompetent jokers, who all have their own agendas..

If we were meant to fly we would have sprouted wings by now. We just have to expect that wether accident or on purpose we will continue to such incidents. We just need to wait to push the panic button till we know all the facts.
