DWTS Week 5: 10/10/06

This week on Dancing with the Stars, our celebrities and their professional partners tackled either the Rumba (a sensual dance of love featuring seductive movements, direct walks, and crisp turns) or the Samba (a fun and energetic dance comprised of walks, the Botafogo, and walking promenades and pivots). 

Joey: Samba.  I thought he had lots of swagger, and that the dance was very clean and precise.  Bruno called the dance "very modern and very effective", while Carrie-Ann didn't like it and said she saw lots of errors at the beginning.  I didn't see any big problems with it myself!

8, 8, 9 = 25

Willa: Rumba.  As Carrie-Ann said tonight, if they're not together, they ought to be.  They have a TON of chemistry and it really showed again tonight.  It was a very pretty, graceful dance.  Bruno called her the "mistress of tease".  I really want her to do well, personally.

9, 9, 9 = 27

Sara: Samba.  She still looked a little stiff to me and I didn't care for her costume (green and yellow) much, but she did look like she was finally having fun again.  The judges liked it and encouraged her to continue her loosened-up performing.

8, 8, 8 = 24

Mario: Rumba.  I thought it was an excellent, effective dance and the theme was clear based on their costumes.  ;)  I could feel their chemistry working quite well.  (Personally, I think they're an item too.)  Carrie-Ann remarked that some of his movements were too clipped and short.

9, 9, 9 = 27

Jerry: Samba.  His prancing totally made me laugh and he definitely looked like a 60 year old man!  There wasn't a lot of skill, but it was really funny. 

8, 8, 8 = 24

Monique: Rumba.  She had some excellent footwork and moves!  Her dancing is so graceful that it amazes me every week since I hadn't really expected much from her initially.  I have to give a big WOW to the last move in their routine - she's so flexible!

9, 9, 9 = 27

Emmitt: Samba.  This was a fun dance.  I'm impressed with him every single week.  Len called it the best Samba of the night.  I'm not sure I agree, but it was definitely fun to watch them.

Everyone danced so well tonight that I hate to think anyone will be eliminated tomorrow!  If I had to pick, just based on technical details, I'd say Jerry should be next to go.  He's funny and adds a good bit of humor and lightheartedness to the show, but he's not a technically good dancer.  I think his fan base will keep him on the show though (and ha ha to his comment about the jail guards letting his fans call in once to vote).  So my guess is that Monique will get the boot tomorrow.  I really like her and hate the idea, but she probably has the weakest fan base of late.
