For some reason I can't explain, I've gotten caught up with watching the reality show, "Dog, the Bounty Hunter." My husband started looking at it first, and so I peaked in, out of simple curiosity, to see what he found so blasted fascinating. Before long, I ended up hooked on this show, too. Maybe it's that "good guy triumphing over bad guys" thing that gets me.
Perhaps you've heard about the recent situation in which Mexico is now demanding that Duane "Dog" Chapman, his brother Tim and son Leland be extradited back to Mexico. This apparently stems from a few years back when Chapman and company went into Mexico and captured Andrew Luster, Max Factor heir and serial rapist. Since Mexico considers bounty hunting as unlawful, "Dog," Tim and Leland were originally arrested and jailed briefly in Mexico back in 2003, then released. Now, the Mexican government wants them back and our own feds, it seemed, were happy to accomodate them, by sending in U.S. Marshals to pick up these folks.
They even described, on a special about this, how the feds. put the Chapmans in individual cells in the most dangerous part of the prison, where they would have been in extreme risk, since some prisoners they had helped put there were amongst the population.
I'd just like to understand the following:
1. Why did they take three years to revive this thing?
2. Did the Max Factor money have any influence on this sudden request for "justice" from Mexico's government?
3. Why are people who brought in a serial rapist being treated like this?
4. Why don't these federal marshals exercise the same passion and dedication for arresting people who are real criminals, like the illegal aliens and others in Laredo, Texas who regularly murder and intimidate people?
I will give respect to all points of view.

Publicity will save him from harsh consequences. Hmm, perhaps 30 days hard labor building that fence.
Dog and his crew brought Luster in to the police department to be deported. At that time all of them were arrested, and Luster was eventually deported. Under heavy pressure from the US government, Dog was released on bail. He took the opportunity to jump the borde and come back to the US. It really doesn't make sense that this would happen now. Mexico was pressured to give him bail, with the full knowledge of both governments that he would jump bail and come back to the US.
There is a culture of corruption in Mexico....... its odd that they would put any pressure on the US government for a person like this. There is no illegal activity you can perform in front of a cop that you can't bribe that same cop out of.
Something smells funny.
