The third page was still in high school when the explicit emails and IMs began:

"Foley would say he was sitting in his boxers and ask what I was wearing," the page said.

At this point (things could change) it doesn't appear that speaker Dennis knew anything more than the first set of e-mails. A second set of e-mails came out friday, and it appears that those are actually what forced Foley to resign. It seems like the IM logs actually came out after he had already resigned. The real criminal in my mind is the person that was holding all of this crap for the better part of 3 years to use it as a political October surprise. This stuff should have been leaked to the press to get Foley out of his position of power a long time ago. There still remain a lot of questions about how Soros liberal political action group got its hands on a lot of the IMs that it handed over to the FBI.
Why trust drudge over anyone else? Its not a matter of trusting drudge over anyone else... it is a matter of his track record, and giving him the time to prove that if he says he has 3 kids that say their IMs were meant to be a joke that they were. Its not a matter of trusting Drudge, its a matter of trusting his sources, some kids that are involved. I am not saying that he is right or wrong, its a developing story. He will either produce his sources in a matter of a couple of days, or he will be discredited and back away from the story.

What was the Fairness Doctrine, you ask? It was a barricade that disallowed any one political opinion from dominating public airwaves. When one political opinion was given, the opposite view had to be given equal access to the airwaves, so that there was no media bias.

Did you happen to watch Olbermann the other night, when his guest host played a clip of dozens of rightwing pundits echoing the EXACT SAME talking points throughout the day? It was quite the telling little piece. This is exactly how the rightwing media works. A talking point or set of talking points is crafted in one of several rightwing think tanks, and distributed to all rightwing writers, talk jocks, and talking head pundits. In unison, they all begin to parrot off the identical talking points, and they continue to do so throughout the day. The next day, a new set appears on their desk, and they parrot those. It's really quite remarkable to see in action.
But, as I said, THE most certain way to assure yourself that there is no "liberal media" is the simple fact that your republicans have yet to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine. Case closed.

I am enjoying somewhat the desperate attempts to spin the Foley scandal as a democratic conspiracy but I hate the belaboring it's getting. Yes, he's a freak and what he did was wrong but it's not as if the guy tied up little boys, made them face a blackboard and shot them.
The real crime is that we should be finding solutions to the problem of killing innocent children like outlawing semi-automatic handguns, which exist only to kill people rapidly. What we know about Foley so far is that he harrassed these young boys. We really don't know much more, yet. The truth will come out and I'm sure that Foley will pay the price of his transgressions. Its reasonable to call liberals democrats and republicans conservative... liberal and conservative are the ideologies that are embodied in the democratic and republicanan parties--If you look at our politics, they are the only significant parties we have in this country to represent those ideals. Everyone here thinks I am a republican... but it couldn't be further from the truth. I am very much a libertarian.... 30-50 years ago I would have been a democrat, but the party has pretty much gone off the deep end. Heck Liberman votes with the democrats 91% of the time, and they couldn't tolerate him because he is strong on defense. What this country really needs is a viable 3rd party to force the parties to actually come to the center and not be so devisive in this country. Every other country I have been to with a reasonably strong democracy has at least 3 and typically 4-5 parties that have creative ideas and get something done. Our system is so fractionalized by our 2 party system that its insane.

Look, pages can be sexually harassed by a democrat or republican since that's unfortunately the only choice they have. The difference in the Foley case (where the page's reaction to the congressman's advances by comparison went something like "sick, sick, sick," etc., etc.) is that the republican leadership, who profess to represent the moral majority, chose to cover it up. And Foley professed to be the protector of children against predators, when he was the poster boy himself.
The FBI is interviewing the new pages who came forward so doubtless more evidence will emerge. And it could very well be that others have harassed pages and should/will be held accountable. Republican or Democrat. I say, hang them all.

Just to keep things honest. Mel Reynolds went to jail and served his time. His career was ruined and he lives a modest life now. He wife divorced him as well.
