Mistake, or Gather? Either way, I am not in the group

It is sad that people have to have things thier way. If you don't do it thier way you are wrong.

I don't even want to guess at who you're talking about. But I might have a clue...

Looks like you chose the correct groups for this one. Sometimes, it's hard to know exactly what the group owners want because they aren't specific in their descriptions. And then, there are people who post everything they write to every group, without caring if it is appropriate.

Robin: Probably the same one that goes around lecturing folks on where to post their stuff (not in HER group!) or an article about copyright every other day. That the one?

I used to belong to this forum of women that I've know for ever. I was having a really bad time...and I guess my posts where down. She said everytime she read my posts she wanted to slit her wrists. Isn't that nice? You go through something major...these people are supposed to be your friends & then someone says something like that. She to was the forum owner.

I believe that the anonymity of the internet can create a false sense of intimacy, so I think it's a mistake to view the people you meet on an internet forum as your "friends". At best they are "cyberfriends" or "friendly acquaintences", at least until you meet in person and develop a true intimate relationship.

But that's just me.

I agree with you, Auntie. You can't expect much from these sorts of interactions . . . my rule of thumb is not to trust anyone with whom I cannot make eye contact. Therefore, while I deeply appreciate and enjoy everyone whom I have come to "know" on the 'net, I have no expectations, and do not consider them to be "friends".

There seems to be nay sayers on every group.com site who have nothing better to do than flame others for every little thing. Just ignore it, take the nay sayers name off your list and move on. These sites are definitely for taking the good with the bad.

Wow. All I can say is, you can find better and more inviting groups.

People on the Internet are very brave as long as they can hide behind their anonymity. No common courtesy is required when no one knows who you really are. When you have problems like this, consider the source. Anonymous, egotistical jerks who amuse themselves by trashing other people are not to be taken seriously.

Thanks everyone, for your kind comments. Not, I am not going to let it bother me. I have been on mailing lists, in groups, etc., long enough to know when some are not worth my time. I am with you guys, these "high school' type games are tiresome. And, I hope that I never am rude to any of you. If you think I have been, let me know. Sometimes, I am just a DOOFUS! ;)

Let's get the facts stated correctly Carol. The group is private affiliate and you posted something there that I accepted into the group and left a comment on it. I did not send you an email, that was gather letting you know my comment was posted on your article.

Your one paragrah "article" was asking about imbedded links for affiliates and asking about how to make an affiliate site. I explained a bit about having a website to become an affiliate and gave examples and the last line I said maybe you were confused since your paragraph was asking about people stealing money through links that have affiliate ids in them.

Then you posted another paragraph "article" in response to my comment, instead of editing the article to add that content or responding to my comment and this second one was posted to the public as I read it before I saw it at the group.

On top of that my name was listed in the title and it was not really appropriate to have these two postings. I left a comment on that article asking that my name be removed from the title and my suggestion for editing the first article or commenting on it instead of two one paragraph "articles" that were of the same conversation. I also said that the three websites you listed did not have a link in them and wondered what the websites were, as you only had the titles.

You sent me a nasty email about rejecting your article and I responded to read the comment I had left. You made it seem that I rejected it, when I had commented on it.

I never initiated any emails, those were my comments on the article. I asked that my name be removed from the title and that the two articles be merged to form one and that titles needed to be more appropriate.

There is no high school game going on here. Let's kindly stick to the facts. I commented on your two paragraph articles and did not email you. You sent me an email:

Hi Carol -

Did you see the comment I left? I found the article posted before I even saw it at the group, meaning that it was posted to the public and all articles need to go to only the group.

Second, I stated I did not like having my name in the title of the article.

Third, you posted something asking a question, I responded with a comment and then your response is to post another article with an inappropriate title and not combine the two into one article?

I am not going to approve a so called article using my name in the title?

Gather states it is a site for conversations/discussions, not posting a new article for each response instead of in the comment section or editing the initial article to cover all the details.

You mentioned the names of your websites but there were no links. I would suggest editing the initial article with the details and than post it to the group for feedback and responses.

The first title to the article made sense, the second one did not.

Too bad we don't have the ability to block certain posters here, or just our ability to see them. And it's good practice to check out all their comments before you join a group as it could be run by a dictator or nut case, as the case may be.

I saw the comment that was made that you refer to in your article. I was going to comment back to say that it is your business and why is that person (he/she) bothering you? But I had to go to work...

Carol--it just sort of takes away the "fun" when you have to worry about all the nasty comments you're going to get. As everyone has already said, don't let it bother you. I know it's easier said than done, but just take it all with a grain of salt.

Moot point, articles gone, let it go.
