Yay, so we're going to the ball this year! My husband is an active duty marine and every year they have a ball on the corps' birthday. Back in 2000 my husband invited me to his ball after only meeting me once. I was kind of surprised when he asked me because he didn't know me all that well. Hehe you should have seen the place card for my name, it was all messed up. When the commanding officer came around to shake hands with everyone, Mike didn't know how to introduce me ...he went, "Hello sir, this is my ....errr, my ..., and finally the CO said, My (insert my first name here). And we all laughed.
We've gone to many balls since, except when he was deployed or had to work. I don't know why I'm so excited, I guess it's the girl in me. A chance to get all dolled up and well to see my dear husband in his dress blues is always a treat. One of the only benefits a Marine gets over the other branches is that their uniform is stunningly handsome!
So I ordered the dress from Riverside County, I'm just waiting to get the call that it's at the mall close to where I live to pick up. I have a lovely bag that I used last time we went that I'll use again. It's in it's dust bag begging for an opportunity to "party" again. I have some nice sling back pumps that I wore to a ballet last Christmas in LA. I bought some earrings today and also set up an appointment at MAC for them to do my make up the day of. For $45.00 you get your makeup done by a professional and you get $45.00 worth of product of your choosing. I think it's a pretty good deal! I'll do my own hair, no one does it better. ;) I just need a cardigan to keep me warm as it'll be on November 12th at night and very cold. I'll just wear a scarf and I think it'll all be good. I don't want to bring a coat as I hate checking it.
Mike turned in his uniform today for cleaning and got our tickets. So all seems to be in order! I'm so excited, I love to dance with Mike. I also love the ambiance of it all. I think once Mike leaves the Marines we won't be going to any more formal balls, so this is one thing we get to do while he's in. It's like the prom with liquor and almost no one loosing their virginity ...well I hope! ;)
