Maybe it's thunder
that clouds judgement
Maybe it's lightning
that strikes vulnerability
Maybe it's tears
we forgot to shed
that streak windows
into souls
So misleading
is the ray of sunshine
Humidity snuffed
the joy I thought
would pour forth
I looked out the window
to find comfort in the trees
and only found that
emptiness
of thoughts not yet
worn bare
thinning only
my resolve to keep
silent
what melody
could not drown
I count the beats
that separate
the waning
bonds
that peer
into this heart
o' mine
Missed it
yes I did
let go of the past
and live in the moment
when present collides
with reality
checking in and
carving an out
with minutes to spare
and seconds
suspended in mid-air
only to take stock
regardless
of what is rare
