A is for Amsterdam...where we spent 3 terrific weeks this summer on a home exchange with a lovely Dutch-American family. When you swap houses, you stop being a tourist and experience what it's like to live like the Dutch. Of course, every culture has many layers to it--like an onion. But at times, we penetrated the superficial layers and got a more authentic sense of what it means to be Dutch. So, over the next few posts, I propose to give to you a Dutch alphabet--thoughts, impressions, and photos of the experience. Sounds good? Well, here goes.
