{14 photos, for those gathering on dial-up}

in a cottage nestled deep in the woods, hand-hewn beams a century old reflect a dying fire's flickering light.
dogs twitch, a log falls.
book in hand forgotten, i am mesmerized, staring at the flames...watching the slow metamorphosis from aged wood to white ash.
rain patters on the roof, finally landing after the long journey through layers and layers of leaves.
i think about my peaceful kayak ride tonight...
the sinking sun illuminating the few orange trees, setting them alight amidst the greens
the aged lily pads, roots and stems tangled, turning this way and that, intermingled with fallen leaves
gossamer goose feathers everywhere - atop muck, reeds, lilypads, water - anything that will bear their negligible weight
a curious black duck, poking amidst the cat tails, munching on late-season weeds
cotton ball clouds and a blue blue sky, reflected in still water
leaves and mushrooms, life glowing on land and water...
peace ascends, bubbling up within me like hope, nourishing my soul
calm. quiet. still. peaceful.

Once again, thank you! With that will get back to work. An excellent way to calm down in the middle of a Monday.
