How do I sign up for the cash program to redeem my Gather Points?
Do I need to complete a W-9 form (for U.S. income declaration) if I decide to use my Gather Points for gift cards?
Answer:
Once you reach the level of earning 3,000 Gather Points/month, you will be invited by Gather to enroll in the cash program. One of the requirements for participation in this program is the completion, and remittance of a W-9 form. However, the cash program is elective. Thus, you can choose to continue to redeem Gather Points through the default gift card program. U.S. tax law does impact gift card recipients as well, but at a very high equivalency (dollar) level, which very few, if any, members would be in danger of ever reaching. So, just stick with gift cards if you don't want to declare your Gather Point redemption as income to Uncle Sam.
Gather will also continue to add more Gather Points Partners as well, so redemption options will continue to increase.

Who has the 'Spirit of Community' this week? - Find out HERE.
Answer:
You can publish an article or image only to your group, and only the members of the group will be able to view it. Although, if that group's content is public (all content visible to everyone on Gather), then it is essentially the same as publishing to everyone, in that all Gather members will see your article/image in the 'Recent Articles/Images' listing, and all of your connections will see your content under their 'Articles/Images for Me' tab. Your group may have content designated as public. If the group content is private (content viewable only to group members), then only members of the group should see your content appear in the 'Recent Articles/Images' listing, or under the 'Articles/Images for Me' tab. Hence, if you change the content privacy settings for your group, you should achieve your desired result. This will affect all content in the group, regardless of when it was published.

Post it below!
1) Open up the 'groupspace' for your group.
2) Click on the 'Recent Articles' link. This will display a full listing of all articles published to the group.

Add fun to your Gather comments using HTML - HERE's how.
I am a bit unclear on your use of the phrase 'unless I post it first'. Technically, you cannot re-edit a document unless you have published it first (otherwise you wouldn't have an article to edit!)
However, if you are seeking a way to modify (edit) an article after you have published it, then look for the word 'edit' under the article title (when viewing the article, or in your 'Articles By Me' listing). It can be hard to spot at first.
Note: You can only edit content that you are the author of.

That helps to clarify your problem. Thanks!
Are you simply not seeing the 'Edit' button?
If you see the button, and click it, what happens?
When you do this, have you already chosen which groups to publish to?
Does it do this every time, including when you are publishing to 'Just Me'?

Sometimes when I make a comment, it appears outside the orange box. But then it usually seems to correct itself later. What's happening?
In all honesty, I think that it could be a little of each. In my opinion, there is simply a greater volume of content being published on Gather lately, and that stretches the limits of members to keep up, and to comment. Your articles are now harder to find, and must vie for attention with a host of other 'stuff'. This will limit comments, and views, or your work here.
There is the possibility that a Gather glitch is preventing you from receiving notifications (as that has happened on occasion), but I think my response above is more likely to be the culprit.

Your issue stems from your browser not refreshing the screen properly. This is typically a temporary condition. Try refreshing your screen using the refresh button on your browser, or the F5 key (for Windows). If the condition persists, it may be due to conditions affecting your connection speed, or browser.

Check out great Tips & Tricks for using Gather HERE.
Yes. The community can still 'flag' your article as inappropriate, regardless of whether you have flagged it yourself for content. In reality, this is a good thing.
Simply because you label your content for mature audiences in some way, does not mean that it would not also violate Gather's Terms of Service (TOS). For example, you could flag your own article for 'Graphic Violence'. However, if that article described how to perpetrate a violent crime against someone, then the community should flag it, irrespective of the labels you have placed on it.
As for the editorial process, I can only sum it up in one word: 'inadequate'.

I agree that some qualification of the Gather Earnings Program should be made relative to non-U.S. based members. If there is notice given to members somewhere on Gather, I have yet to find it (outside of a few articles and comments, like yours). This omission could potentially be grounds for a class-action lawsuit against Gather.
As far as I know, Canadians can redeem Gather Points for gift cards. I have not received any information to the contrary on this. You can then use the gift cards online (for select retailers only), or have a friend in the U.S. purchase the items for you, and then send the item(s) through the normal post, or DHL, UPS, etc.
I am certain that Gather is hard at work trying to sort through the commerce and taxation issues which will allow you to enjoy the same benefits as your U.S. based Gather friends. The last word from Tom G. on this matter was a potential target timeframe of early 2007 (for Canada).
