I grew up watching my two grandmothers. One was always in the garden, cooking, canning, sewing, or embroidering... . The other was into foraging in the woods and fields for something to make for dinner or out fishing... .
I learned that we have only one planet on which to live and so we had better take care of it.
I carry those lessons with me today and try in instill them into my children. We garden without chemicals, cook mainly from scratch, forage for goodies to munch on, sew, embroider, recycle, conserve, and try to leave as small a footprint on the earth as possible.
We make and sell our soaps, lotion, crafts, vintage goods, and our extra organic seedlings and/or produce. We are slowly converting some of our friends and neighbors to see the benefits of using only natural products.
I explain to my customers why I choose to garden organically and avoid chemicals whenever possible.

I originally hail from Newton Falls, Ohio and find myself finally accepting and loving Central Florida in autumn. We have lived here nearly thirteen years and have recently purchased a little cottage with a lakeview in Polk County.
What yard(meaning grass that has to be mowed using precious and costly gasoline) has been turned into an organic garden that finds me teaching my darling granddaughter of nearly four years of age the joys of gardening.
I truly love gardening and it is thrilling to see another generation get their little hands dirty! :)
Love your posts!! Great job~
Love, light, and blessings~Mama T
Nice to "meet" you.
I have an uncle in Port St. Joe Florida - on the gulf. I've been to Florida once in the late 70's - I got REALLY burned up by the sun.
I love our 4 seasons. There are a few weeks in both the summer and the winter that I could do without, but for the most part, I'm glad I'm in this part of the country.
It's great to see that you are teaching the next generation how to be an organic gardener. I feel this is a vital skill. Our poor earth is polluted enough already and who knows how long it will be before everyone HAS to be self-sufficient due to war-natural event-poverty... .
I am always updating my website with more organic gardening and lifestyle ideas-tips so check it every so often and make sure you sign my guestbook.
Take care,
Diana
We have way too many health problems in this country now and I think a lot of them stem from eating "altered", chemically fertilized, pesticide dosed foods; drinking processed and polluted water; and taking a pill for everything that some doctor thinks is needed. All of these medical "cures" come with side effects which require yet another pill of some sort. Enough already! I will concede that sometimes a person may have to give in and take medicine, but my first choice will always be an herb or a change in diet... rather than a chemical formulation that is oftentimes worse than the illness it is supposed to fix.
I have a hard time gardening now too because of a genetic disorder that leaves me getting more and more disabled, but I do as much as I can. I want to make a raised bed herb garden so I can work in it much easier.
Well, I have to go and update my mom's and my websites and my blogs so I guess I had better get started on them.
Take care all,
Diana
I am expanding my herb garden and have 16 more lavender bushes.
I really needed them as my lavender items are selling fast !
My little fruit/nut trees that I added a few years ago are starting to produce now too.
I had some before, but wanted more so that we could be even more ready for when the economy goes in the toilet.
I use the fruit/nuts for food of course, but I also use them in some of my soaps and perfumes... .
I am trying to convert my Mom over to organic living as she now has cancer all over her body. At least she drinks the detox teas I give her, uses my soaps and balms, and will wear the perfume I am designing for her.
I just wish she would be more careful about eating healthier, but it is her choice.
