As much as I love to travel in Europe, there are so many wonderful places to see in the good old US of A...One of our favorite trips was the time we took a few weeks and traveled the gorgeous Coast line of Oregon.
One day just after we checked into our hotel in Lincoln Beach, we decided to take a walk along the deserted beach just across the road from our Inn. I grabbed our binoculars in case a puff appeared in the horizen signifying a possible whale off shore
It was beautiful day, the air was clean and fresh, the beach deserted, the summer homes along the shore were empty but, oh so inviting.
As we turned one last bend we spotted some creatures lying on the sand, sunning themselves at the end of the beach...literally the end of the beach since this was somewhat of an island jutting out into the water..as we approached what turned out to be a group of Harbor seals, they all watched us with those big brown eyes of theirs..closer and closer we got until suddenly they started to all go into the water...Until...only one seal remained...she watched us with her soulful eyes, then joined the others.
We decided to turn back, not wanting to disturb them anymore...as we retreated back from where we came, the seals watched us from the waves, soon they followed us, all the time watching.
We had hoped for a whale sighting, but instead found a sight every bit as exciting and heartwarming
Then, we bid adieu to these wild wonderful creatures, until the next time!
