My Father just recently retired on a Government Pension with service in the U.S. Airforce and the U.S. Post Office.
When he went to the Social Security Office to apply for his benifits, he was suprised to find out that he was only entitled to 50 % of the Social Security Benifits .
The explaination given to him was that President Regan signed a bill that limited the Social Security Benifits tp 50% for people drawing a Government pension.
As my Father was having this explained to him, he watched several Mexican immigrants getting approved for 100% Social Security Benifits.
Now my Father has served his country and paid in to Social Security for all of his working days, and he is only entitled to 50 % of his Social Security Benifits while Mecxians who have never paid a penny into Social Security get 100 % Social Security Benifits ?
My God people, where is our country going ?
Are any of us going to be able to receive our Social Security Benifits when we retire 10 to 20 years from now ? Wll there be anything left ?

You're 100 % correct. This is the worst administration in U.S.History and it has also made our great country the most hated nation on earth ! Never in my life have I ever seen so much hate worl wide for the U.S.
But then, this administration doesn't think about tomorrow unless it is in terms of how to talk people into voting for them again.
We need to get them all out. We need to voice our disgust at this situation and unseat every single one of them - period. We need to look for younger, more responsible candidates. "Old school" is killing us in the 21 century.
Don't be offended by this remark but.....your dad is a victim of legislature - not Mexicans. Also, would your father have been angry had they been black or another minority?
The point is this: People go to the Social Security Administration for many reasons. My main reason for going is to order copies of my ss card or my kids'. Not all visit for the same reasons.
Anyway, I hope your dad is well and thank him for me - I'm sure you are honored to have such a great example for a father.
My Dad served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force , and then worked for the U.S. Post Office where he retired, I'm not sure if it's a Military pension , but I do know that it's a Government pension .

You continue to try and turn this into a race issue. Yes , it pissed my Dad off watching the Mexicans get S.S. benifits without paying anything in, but it wasn't because they were Mexican . It was because they had never paid anything in to S.S.
You are correct about my Dad being a victim of legislature, and that came from the Regan administration. I have also voiced my discontent about the current administration many times on Gather. But looking at the possible future candidates for President, I don't see things getting better in the future. It's sad to say , but nowadays it seems that we have to choose whichever candidate that is the least of an idiot. There is nothing more dangerous than an idiot with power!

I've read some articles reporting eye witness accounts of armed Mexican troops in the U.S. after Katrina, have you heard about that ? The Katrina catasrophe was just a perfect example of how this administration handles things, but that was also a breakdown at the City and State levels as well. I also read one account about a group of doctors who were in New Orleans when Katrina hit. They attempted to take a group of refugees across a bridge into a neighboring parish, and the were shot at by Sherrif's deputies . And to make matters worse, the deputies stole their food and water.

And while we're at it.....Timothy: How do you know they didn't pay anything in?
You need to go back and read my article. Nowhere in the article did I mention that the Mexicans were illegal, nor did I mention that I saw them.

Come on, odds are that they didn't. Just like if your neighbor has a lot of traffick in and out of his or her house all hours of the day and night and doesn't work, odds are that he or she is selling drugs. You can't prove it, but you know that something is wrong.
Most of the Mexicans ( yes Dee, I know how to tell the difference ) work on the local tobacco farms, and the rest work in the local Mexican restaurants. There is no way that anyone who is working should be able to draw a Social Security check.
Americans are abusing the system as well . I know one guy who is 45 years old and has never worked a day in his life. He has been drawing Social Security, Welfare and food stamps since he was 21. Guess why ? It's because he is an alcoholic ! This is no joke !
I spoke with my Dad today, and he is drawing a Civil Service pension, not a military pension. Either way, he should be able to draw 100 % S.S. benifits, but thanks to Regan, he can't .
You'll have to ask Regan about that, it makes no sense to me either.
