Well, one illegal found out the hard way that a fence does act as a deterent. Maria de Rosario's decision to make a run for the border, take a chance at crossing the fence into America came with a high price as she lost her finger while scaling over the barrier. Interesting enough, a member of the Minutemen was there, and helped in the task of trying to save her finger.
Woman finds scaling fence a costly, painful gamble

Campo, CA -- Clutching her right hand in a blue handkerchief, Maria de Rosario's sobs grow louder.
A U.S. Border Patrol agent crouches in front of her. He slowly wraps her severed ring finger in a shirt. He places it in a bag of ice.
'I knew I couldn't do it, I knew I couldn't do it,' she says quietly in Spanish to the man sitting next to her, Victor Perez.
Rosario, 25, and Perez, 24, sit with their heads down on a frontage road next to a 10-foot corrugated steel fence that marks the border south of Campo, Calif., about 50 miles east of San Diego.
About one hour earlier, the two climbed over the landing-mat fence as part of a group of Mexican illegal entrants.
The men and women helped each person climb over. Rosario caught her hand on the razor-sharp anvil point on top of the fence.
When she fell to the ground on the U.S. side, pain shot up her arm. Her hand was bleeding. The top third of her ring finger lay on the ground.

You must feel GREAT about that fence causing bloodshed AND catching illegals.
I guess America is really no better than other countries...sigh....We didn't catch a terrorist....we caught a peasant's finger.
Wonder how long it will take to cut their throats?
LOL....You wage a war for your separatist, superior mind-state - when will you realize that YOU are not the Majority?
The really GREAT thing about this is a greater sense of responsibility. So much more exists for them, so many more people see through this rhetoric than in years past. Go ahead and deport - let them cut their throats.
We'll see how many have to die before the people of this nation - the TRUE AMERICANS - revolt.
I can't believe people like you still exist....nevermind....yes, I can....sigh.
This was a perfect example of compassion and consideration, a person who is totally opposed to the activity that this woman was attempted to do but yet when she got hurt he came to her aid. But you or Jackie weren't willing to see that this was nice of this person to help. Even if you don't like certain peoples views it does not mean you can not at least give them credit for doing the right thing.
I'm so confused. If this wasn't a demonstration of compassion what is? What was this U.S. Border Control Officer supposed to do, offer her a ladder and a hand up over the fence? Get real, she was breaking U.S. law and it is the officer's obligation to enforce the law! He did a very kind and compassionate thing in trying to help this person who was injured while in the process of committing a crime!
What would you have had him do Debbie C?
Give us a break. This woman all on her own decided to break the law.
Yet another reason not to come to America.............those evil finger cutting bastards!
LOL
Sandy - Porgie never said that he wanted anyone to do anything differently, he never said they should have left her with no help. HE was trying to show that there are compassionate people on both sides of the issue. I myself if I see someone getting hurt would render aid to anyone, it's the right thing to do.
Sherry-right on target. I've said many times, that I would be fair more willing to contribute money to a plan to help these illegals if they were back in their home countries trying to improve their lives and nation. One thing I have noticed as a general rule around the world. Does not matter how generous the United States is, how much we give, how compassionate and sharing we are with our wealth, it is NEVER ENOUGH, every one wants and expects us to do more.
Guess what....that is reality. How many Americans have been offered jobs, bought homes, put down roots, then had the company decide they were going to move, or simply close down a plant or factory. How many American families have faced hard times because a major corporation has used the bankrupcy courts to reorganize, which amounts to killing the unions in their company, force wage concessions, and in too many cases, get out from under pension obligations?
We don't OWE these people! They ROLLED THE DICE, and when the times were good, they benefitted from that roll of the dice. Now that the dice are coming up snake eyes, they want to cry foul. They knew they were breaking the law, knew at some point they could be caught, deported, uprooted....yet, THEY took the risk, THEY DECIDED TO ROLL THE DICE.
IF someone decides to grow some pot in their basement to make a few extra bucks, they ROLL THE DICE....if they get away with it, they are happy, but if they get caught, should we pardon them?
Not every Jay Walker is arrested either, if suddenly the police start cracking down on it, are you going to be screaming for Jay Walkers rights? Drinking Under the Influence was a law that was not as enforced years ago as it is now....should we argue that it's unfair to suddenly be nabbing drunk drivers when we had let them get away with it for years? Pick almost any law you want, and there have been times when it was not as actively enforced as it should be, but once it starts being enforced, we do not grant waivers to everyone that violates said law, but you want it to be different for illegals.
"If I could be a superhero,
I'd be immigration dude.
I'd send all those foreigners back to their homes,
for eating up all of our food!
And taking our welfare and best jobs to boot,
Like landscaping, dishwashing, picking our fruit.
I'd pass a lot of laws to get rid of their brood,
'Cause I'd be immigration dude."
Crap, now everyone hates me...hahaha, I just got a big kick out of that.
I was reading a pro-illegal sympathy piece earlier today, a woman from a Latin country had come to America pregnant, gave birth to and anchor baby CONCIEVED in a different country than ours. Married another illegal who had served prison time for attempted murder, was dealing cocaine at the time they met and began living together. She applied for a change of status, then blew off the interview, and the subsequent court date....a warrant was issued for her arrest, she was/is slated for deportation. Meanwhile, her and her illegal cocaine dealing husband had two more children before ICE caught up with her.
The story went on to tell us HOW BEAUTIFUL HER CHILDREN WERE, how her husband had reformed his life, and was working hard, how she was such a good mother to her children, and that WE should get involved, write letters asking that she be allowed to stay in America.
Call me crazy here, but I want this woman deported YESTERDAY, and would be really happy to see her husband deported right along with her. They can take the children with them, or she can leave them with her brother who ALSO CAME TO America illegally.
COUNT THE CRIMES!
This is the second time yoy've trotted that statement out....OH! You would think differently if you and your wife had been able to have children. No, I would not think differently. Additionally, that argument is never going to carry the day, and it is insulting, and though it does not bother me, do not appreciate you using it, as my wife reads these boards, and she carries enough pain where this subject is concerned....you want to attack ME, that is fine....LEAVE MY WIFE OUT OF IT.
And NOW you are offended?
Recibes lo que das, juay.
Honestly there are alot of personal stabs in these articles, but Porgie, coming from experience...if you have never had children, you do not realize how much having kids changes your perspective on EVERYTHING...especially dealing with helpless children, because then you realize how fragile they are, how dependent and you all this crap is not their fault. Unless you are a pretty messed up person to begin with.
Just take a step over to child molesters that get married and have kids and mess up their kids ok? It is possible to have children and not feel the way most of us do that you take care of the babies and protect them.
Look at several wars, where women and children are targeted just out of malice and vengance and cruelty.
I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt here, but I do know this is NOT a cut and dried issue.
I thing there are the extreme cases like Porgie talked about here, (would like to see a link to the article with some info btw) where messed up drug dealers are totally abusing the system and hey they are abusing those kids. How do we step in without violating civil rights? Just because they are not citzens does not mean they dont have human rights. I also think though that in such a severe case like this, the total disregard, clearly thinking they are untouchable, and having more children?? If this is totally the case, truly, then the children SHOULD be removed and the parents prosecuted =whatever that means if it means deportation, etc. I do believe they have to be caught/found guilty first and that does take manpower and hours and $ from us also. Yes those kids will not have a great life potentially and will be wards of the state, but they at least have a chance to be taken in by someone kind and compassionate that can teach them how to be good citizens and they were born here for crying out loud they are citizens.
Porgie - remember not all illegals are created equal, dont be ignorant and stereotype them all together ok?
