I lothe the bed at night,
A place of broken vows.
I slept there once,
In arms, that held me warm,
And promised me safe journey,
To mornings' early dawn.
Though sheets and pillows may replace,
The ones I left behind,
Dreams are lost in sleepless fog,
And nightmares now are all that I can find.
Tell me now, how may I win.
This fight without design,
And lay in peaceful slumber?
When the sun brings its' noonday light,
And one would but look,
Upon this face of mine,
There they'd see two eyes,
Filled with sleepless glaze,
All because, one simple thing,
I lothe my bed at night.
