God made the sky, the land and the sea.
And the San Juan Islands are the epitome
Of all that goodness rolled into one.
Especially great when you see the sun.
But even in rain and fog you see
What a wonderful place these isles can be.
Small villages nestled in coves along
The rugged coastline inspire a song.
A lovely little B & B
To lay our heads, just you and me.
Good food to eat, local brew to taste
And at their prices...do not waste!
The "Pig War" history plus a Lavender Farm,
The chill in the air made us wish we were warm,
A bracing walk to Lime Kiln Point
To see the lighthouse put ache in hip joint.
On Orcas we climbed to the top of the peak
Of Mt. Constitution. The view made us weak.
So awe inspiring it was on this day,
The skies so clear as we made our way
To the highest point in all the San Juans.
With sun shining bright, we felt like mere pawns.
The ferry rides gave us time to reflect
On the beauty here from on the deck.
Then on Whidby Island a short detour
To Deception Pass to complete our tour.
The bridge so high above the gorge
Took our breath away, it was so large.
On to seattle through fog and snow
And finally sun as on we go
To meet our new Grand Circle Tour,
We'll fondly remember our time right here.
