Another Thing I noticed Since Gather Updated

Another thing I have noticed this morning is that when I click articles it doesn't go to most recent first. You have to click most recent to view newer ones. I like that because then I am not likely to start reading new articles right off the bat. I go check out MY groups and MY articles first and then go to articles being posted.

Does this make sense to you?

Absolutely! This is something Gather should have done a looooong time ago. This tab is likely to be one of the first selected by newer members. Thus, the articles under Highest Rated are the ones which would lead to the best first impression.

I dislike this change. I loved going right to the newest articles when I clicked "articles". I personally couldn't care less about which ones are the "highest rated". But that's just my preference.
Not that it's a huge difference, I just now have to click another time on "recent" to get to where I want to be.

This change could also be a 'double edged sword'. More emphasis may now be directed towards obtaining visibility on this page, which can lead to a greater emphasis on the quality of one's work. However, with the current rating system on Gather, a single 9 star rating can remove a worthy article from the page entirely. This has led to much consternation in the past.

It appears that there may a change in the sorting on the 'My Groups' page as well.

I agree Kevin, it will set a better impression and now its going to be a contest of who gets on the "highest rated" list, which is fine. However, there A LOT of spiteful people here, a new way of attack.

It is hard to understand how different people rate. Some articles that I see which seem good to me are rated lower than expected and then some are just the opposite. I believe some people rate according to their like or dislike of a subject or the author instead of the quality of the article.
