I am certainly with Lynn when I say that I do not either and I was raised Baptist. That type of thinking was NEVER an issue in my family and I was taught to love NOT hate.

I don't I was raised Baptist myself and I always get to know someone no matter what race they are.Also my doctor is from Iraq.I trust him he is the best doctor I have every had.

I have met many people that were prejudice toward blacks, Mexicans, and to some extent orientals. But I have met very few that were prejudiced about Jews, and then rather mildly.

I have however noticed a peculiar tendency for some people to insist that anything less than full support for Israeli policies was by default an indication of anti-Semitism. I find such thinking frightening and highly suspect. It seems closely akin to bizarro notions that to disagree with our President is anti-American. The underlying insecurity implied by such reasoning is very sad.

As a Jew myself, I think it's so important for people to understand that just because someone is Jewish, doesn't mean that they agree with everything Israel is doing or the choices its government has made. Does that mean that those Jews are anti-semitic against their own people?!?! I don't think so. Many Jews support Bush just because of his stance with Israel -- that is something I could never do because I realize there are so many more issues (and Democrats also support Israel so I never understood the Bush lovers stance) on the table that need to be addressed.

I too, am one to always get to know a person before making judgements, so that if I decide to dislike someone, it isn't because of race, religion, culture, sexual preference or anything else that a person could possibly disciminate against.

Not liking some action or behavior of a nation is not hating the people of that nation & vice versa...!

It has never even come up in my life. I am leary of Zionism for the same reason that I am leary of any extreme religious group. But the mainstream people are fine.

Thank you Matthew. While the comments here do not express anti-Semitism, I know why you have posted this article. Matthew and I have received some very harsh, misguided comments against Israel and the Jews before in other articles we've posted. I have to argue that while sometimes being against Israel does not equate to a hatred of all Jews, in some cases it most certainly does. There is a common trend out there to single out the Jewish State and blame her for the woes of the world. I think to say that kind of singling out is not anti-Semitism is to bury your heads in the sand.

And what is it with the obsession that Zionism equates to something wicked or extreme? Like anything there are degrees of adherence. Here is a good summation of Zionism, "If you believe that the Jews are a people, and support the right of the Jews to a national home, and you are willing to stand up for that right when it is challenged, then you can call yourself a Zionist, whether or not you belong to any organized Zionist group or accept any "official" definition of Zionism, and whether or not you live in Israel or plan to live in Israel - and whether or not you are Jewish."

I do not hate the Jews. Jesus being a Jew, and Jews being God's chosen people give me a reason to love them and pray for them.
No more do I hate any other race. We are all God's creation, human with like passions and souls. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

I don't hate any groups. I have occasionally hated a single person for his/her actions. They were generally people I knew very well and they had harmed me or my family. How can anyone hate a whole group without knowing every single person in the group?

There is no part of my brain that hates Jews. I wasn't raised like that. The only religion I was really taught growing up to not like was Jahova Witness's...but I have a friend who is one.

I just believe everyone has the right to believe in what they want to believe in. I don't think anyone has to attend church to find God or their God. I believe I can go outside and sit on beautiful back deck and pray....God's everywhere not just church.

I don't really understand why these countries hate the Jews. I just don't get it. The hate is bread into them for generations after generations. Look at all the countries who hate Americans.

It's just a sad world anymore.

No the reason I posted the article is I did see spite and bigatry, and the link below goes to it. But I didnt repost the whole comment becouse it was too long.... Thats the only reason I tok that one line out, and I hope most understood , the comment does say" It is that type of tactic that shows why Israel is so hated throughout the world." and that is a rather braud assuming hate related type of comment....

Thats one reason why I wrote it, the other is contained in all the negative comments, I dont mean the ones that disagree with me or others, I mean the negative ones, full of venum and acid...

Hate is the product of love, if at one time in your life, you loved something so dearly and it was taken from you, hate is derived. If you love one thing it is likely you will hate the opposite. Now mind you there are 10,000 variances of hate, such as disliking a person, being irritated or simply despising something or someone. I think that it is ok to question the policies and politics of any country without generalizing about its people. Look at Iraq. Their government oppressed the people while committing atrocities. Did we suddenly have to HATE Iraquis? I know many people do...but it isn't manditory. Do we hate all Germans because during WWII their leader was Adolf Hitler? Italians because of Musulini? Americans because many people do not like Bush? Politics and politicians make decisions that often backlash upon the people they are supposed to represent, but how many times do we find out that the people are misrepresented by their governments? Hating JEWS, especially expatriated non- Isreali JEWS, is ridiculous! Nice article Matthew.

I don't hate Jews, here or anywhere, and I also believe that Israel has every right to exist in peace with it's neighbors. Imagine what those countries next to each other could do together if there wasn't so much hate. Such a waste.....

According the Webster's New World Dictionary Zionism is ,"a movement for the reestablishing, now for supporting, the Jewish National State of Israel.", I am a Zionist, because I support the Jewish state, but religiously I am a Christian, but most bible reading believing Christians are… or should be because of revelations…

I find that anti-semitism is still alive today because, even though I am not Jewish, i hear the comments from people in my discussions with them that blame the Jews for many problems that various groups have.

Example: One night, I was just taking a cab ride home (i'm from NYC). The person who picked me up just generally started a nice conversation aboyt what I do, what school I go to, etc. by the end of the 15 minute ride, his last comment to me was that his people (pakistanis) and my people (african-americans) had to come together to defeat the Jews who controlled everything in America. I had absolutely no idea where that comment came from, because we were simply talking about problems that poor people have in terms of affording college and finding housing, etc.

I've encountered that same sentiment, surprisingly, among many of my black friends who seem to feel that whenever something bad happens or whenever things are changing in the community, that it is the Jews fault. Now I find that much of this comes less from an understanding of Zionism and the Israeli-Palistinian conflict, and more from just a general view that it's ok to blame anything on Jews because that is what has historically and continues to be done around the world (e.g. people like to blame AIPAC for the Iraq war).

I hope this can change because no one group deserves to have the hatred of the world on their shoulders.

Was raised among bigots who discriminated against African-Americans, and loathed homosexuals. But I do not recall any anti-semitism among them. It is not something I have ever understood probably my best friends in college were jewish and a son is engaged to one. I believe it is a sort of jealousy about their intellectual, academic, scientific, entertainment, and economic achievements. Except with regards to athletics, they have been over-achievers in nearly every area of endeavor -- so if you gather together a fair number of under achieving morons they make the perfect target for jealousy. Although, it is my understanding that the most vicious form of anti-semitism was the expression of anti-cosmopolitanism which had its celebration in rural traditional values which combined with plain ignorant thugs to become the Nazi's in Germany. Why it is rearing its head again in this century is unclear to me except for the grievances the Arabs have against Israeli's -- but it seems rather odd to tag them with anti-semitism since they are a semitic race. I think rather it is tied to the rise of religious fundamentalism not only among Muslims, but among Christians as well. One can only recall the recently released Oval Office tapes which clearly displayed the anti-semitism of Billy Graham.

They hate the Jews because they are favored by God and no matter how much they want to hate they are still favored so they should deal with it, as a matter of fact the jews are too snobbish to care if they hate them or not that is why the jews keep to themselves because they know that people don't like them. The Lord said we should be kind to the jews just as much as some people say that the jews are too cold that is why they don't like them, you know what don't worry about who hates you but worry about ho you treat other people as long as you treat other people around you with respect you will be fine just be prayerful and humble and work hard and that way you can influence the few people around you.
