I have never really kept track of my points here at www.gather.com on a daily basis, but did notice the first two numbers to get a sense of movement activity.
Since I recently redeemed three $25 gift cards to Barnes & Noble I made a note of my remaining points balance and noted the time before going to bed and turning off computer the other nite.
As someone on dial up I continually have to get back online due to disconnection issues, so I am able to see points accumulate. To give others a sense of how points can move without commenting often or writing numerous articles, here is the breakdown I kept track of. Please also note that I own 14 groups.
As you can tell I get disconnected a lot.......
158 - bedtime (11 pm)
231 - 7 am
259 - mid afternoon
273 - 5 pm
281 - 626 pm
286 - 711 pm
292 - 809 pm
314 - 11pm
347 - 7 am
374 - 947 am
400 - 1230 pm
410 - 116 pm
422 - 240 pm
433 - 331 pm
That is about where it is now. I think it moved up a few digits before, but I did not make note of it since it was a small figure.
Last nite I did create a group, commented a bit and tried to post an article at 11:15 pm on the new show Smith, but it vanished and I got frustrated and said not going to do that again.
So creating a group, having members join the group, comment on your articles, connect with people all give you points. I thought this was a nice pace for my points being accumulated and wanted to give this sample for new members to gain better insight into how points move on up.

Michelle you need to get active to get points. Get connected, join groups, comment, post images, comment on images, etc.
I know that I am much less prolific in my Gather exploits and my points are much slower to accrue. Much slower.
I too keep a watch on my points to see what activities gain me the most points.
But even if there were no points, I would still be addicted to the site.
For images you need to click on all images and then do each one individually.
Then you can go into members and then to the left of the member name at the bottom is member settings, click that and remove check marks at the top for allowing member to post and then the bottom section click to remove or ban the member.
My thoughts exactly. . .but what about?!?
