I created a new group last nite and this morning I have loads of off-topic postings from one member. This member went and edited old articles to include in my group.
There are two pages of images I need to manually delete. I banned the member from the group and disconnected. Took kids to school, did errands and come back to see she posted these same articles and images to two other groups of mine.
This is insane. Read the description of the group before you post your articles that have no common interest with said groups.
This is a waste of my time. The person who did this should go in and clean up their own mess.
If you go in and remove a member and ban them from your group their images should automatically be removed. The audacity of some people to just go spamming groups for no rhyme or reason.
I am considering going to moderation for my groups until I can ban this member from all fourteen.
Send me an email if you are a group owner and want to know the member id, as I do not want my article deleted for flaming a member, but this takes nerve to do such things.
I repeat, READ THE DESCRIPTION of the group, one would know by the name Suggestion box that your college paper and refund offers has nothing to do with As seen on tv products or being a union member.
Get it together and follow the rules.

The mom share group I don't quite get, since my homework article was rejected. In order to be a Mom you need to have a kid, kids in school have homework, so I wrote about what my kid has and asked for a discussion. How the hell is that off topic for a mom share group?
Anyway these posted today to three of my groups have not the slightest bit of relevancy to the topics of hand.
Clearly someone who is spamming for points and will not be allowed in any of my groups.
I have so much work still to do to get these articles and images off my groups. Where are the points for all this work, I would like to know???
Like you, woke up in the morning to find out that certain members had posted up stuff I'd already read in other groups, and the things I wanted comment on were now BURIED on page two or three.
I almost felt like accpeting the invites to her two new groups and doing the same to her. But not going to stoop to that level. Maybe somehow I could post this to her groups so she gets the message.
Guess there are all kinds of nut jobs out there and unfortunately you ran into one.
Oh, yes, when I joined Gather, I thought it was a place for serious writers, not mere myspace type bloggers. I'm getting well and truly fed up with all the blogging.
Yes, I think we all have to moderate our groups. Yahoo groups hve group owner moderation and the possibility of overriding moderation for trusted members. I'd like tht here.
I can block messages from specific individuals in my private mail box here--and I think the person I blocked last night may well be the one you are referring to! But that doesn't stop this person from harassing me when several groups all send me mails saying s/he has posted an article--always OT.
I wish there were a system for getting the Gather Cheeses to remove the most egregious spammers.
in posting to several groups, members are reading work and all members are not in all the same groups. I see nothing wrong with posting to several groups at one time. In fact this was what I was advised to do by gather when I first joined.
But spamming of course is not acceptable and I can understand why you had to ban that person.
