My son is almost 30 months (that's two and a half.) I've been slowly introducing the idea of using the potty, but I've been holding back because he just got a new brother, then he was sick all the time, then he was starting school, etc. There's always something.
Not that things are settling down a bit, I'm ready to take the next big step. I've read all the books. I've even worked with kids who were learning. But I am scared and nervous.
I know he'll figure it out, and he'll be out of diapers by first grade (please, I hope!) but I still can't help feeing that so much hinges on doing this right!
Any ideas, hints, tips? Anything?

I had some other things going on in my life at the time and wasn't up to the battle, so I stopped making a big deal of it. I left the potty chair set up. Somehow he eventually got the idea by the time he was three.
I don't think you can go too far wrong as long as you aren't two strict or uptight about it. If you punish accidents or make potty training a miserable experience you're more likely to have problems.
