The night is long without you
and the space beside me is cold;
I hug your pillow close
and long for the warmth,
but nothing warms quite like you;
I toss and turn;
I miss your body
snuggling up behind me,
spooning me,
our bodies cradling one another,
a perfect fit;
Sleep will come eventually,
when my mind has become
too ravaged to think,
and my eyes too heavy
to see the lonely pillow
beside me;
But morning will come,
and your space
will still be waiting.
Oh, how I need your warmth!
