I have a question about punctuation of this poem. Is it done correctly? It is a person musing what [someone] might answer, but yet it is a question by the first person; "Love has brought me hence."
Or this, "Hatreds' toil is cruel."
Does/Can a question mark go after the last quotation marks?

it seems to me that the punctuation would be to enclose the actual thoughts in parenthesis...to limit the capitals and to let the thoughts wander a bit...like they do naturally when a person is experiencing them. In a poem such as this, there are "rules" that one can teach but when I teach poetry, I say to punctuate from the heart and not from the rule book...for life is not always complete sentances nor is it correct grammatically...does this make sense!?!
