The Pope recently made an academic speech at a university, and at one point quoted a 14th century Pope, who spoke out against Islam, and this has muslims crying foul and demonstrating in protest. Muslims in Pakistan, India and Palestine, are protesting.
Is this mostly a factor of what happens when a society has more people than it has productive jobs for?
Are there real issues here? Do we need to really care that some people are easily offended? Well, should there be reprecussions against the muslims who attack christian churches? Should these people be be hospitalized for mental instability? Should these people be shot? Who should be responsible for bringing these violent people to justice?

In this country, I often wonder about the people who protest at abortion clinics... don't they have jobs?
It is all a matter of what one believes. Feelings get hurt.
A person in the position of pope is also a politician, and he should know better.
I'm a freaking atheist and I side with the pope on this one. His relationship is between him, his flock and God.
It is like beating a dead horse. Why waste your words on bigotry?
Peace
The Pope's message was not for the Islamists but for us infidels who are being threatened by the Jihadists.
If we don't heed the warning we are once again going to pay a high price. Many of our people have not acknowledged the problem even after losing 3,000 lives on 9/11.
How many deaths will it take to convince us to get mad enough to get serious about this threat? 30,000, 300,000 or 3,000,000?

I agree that all Muslims do not support Jihad. But the polls indicate that well over 70% do support Jihad. That's enough for me. But what is your point? Why does it matter that some Muslims do not support Jihad?
I agree, Marty, but the public has a very short memory span and probably are not adding up the numbers. So the question remains, how many infidel deaths will it take to convince us there is a problem?
The Pope quoted 14th century words which back then were a warning to the west that since Islam was once again attempting to take over Europe, the west had best start fighting back. In 1453 Constantinople fell.
This will be their third major attempt though the tactic has changed. They now are using terrorism to cause countries to give in rather than using massed armies to defeat them.

Right on, Crazy!
There is no God Save Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet. I don't get the cartoon furor over portrayals of the prophet, but he most certainly was not God in the flesh. In fact, Allah is so far above earthly existance, he should not be bothered. Yet, 3,4, or 5 times a day, they are supposed to pray in the direction of the Ka'baa in Mecca.
