Thanks all, Shelly Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry in which 17 syllables are divided into lines of 5 - 7 - 5. Haiku traditionally deals with nature. Senyru, which has the same form deals with people and ideas. Generally I call them all Haiku. Tanka is an even older form in which the distribution of 31 syllables is 5-7-5-7-7. I like the discipline of such precision. To me they are like snapshots - moments in my life captured forever. Why don't you have a go? It's fun. Moya
