This is a call for all older women. We have allowed ourselves to be brainwashed and now it is time to end this charade. We have allowed the media to dictate what beauty is, and we have bought into the idea that only the young can be beautiful. I say it is time to claim our own.
Older woman are beautiful. We have it all; beauty from without and beauty from within. Years of learning, sharing, and caring have given us our beauty, a special serenity, a way about us that is lost upon our youth. While the young are out chasing rainbows, we have found them. For we have learned the secret. Beauty is not skin deep, beauty comes within.
I have written this little piece to praise all beautiful women of age everywhere.

*****
There is nothing more beautiful then wrinkles on a happy face. Each wrinkle was earned from years of hard work and dedication.

There is nothing more beautiful than grey hair glistening in the sunshine. Silver is the colour of success.

There is nothing more beautiful then a big round belly laugh. Years of good cooking have filled many a hungry mouth. Many of our fondest memories are of grandma's wonderful cooking.

There is nothing more beautiful than big loving eyes peering over bi-focals. Our eyesight may not be as strong as it once was but our mind sight has grown in leaps and bounds.
There is nothing more beautiful then taking out your false teeth and having your grandchildren giggle. Moments like these are just too precious to forfeit. We can learn to laugh at our frailties and live every moment with gusto. Each stage in life has much to offer us; if we only give it a chance.
Though freckles have been replaced with wrinkles, golden tans with yellow age spots, sexy curves with cellulite, running shoes with canes and walkers, there is nothing more beautiful than loving the way you look. The self that you project to the world is the self that you will be remembered for.
