I had a terrific idea about notiifications

After one day last week when I didn't receive any notifications from the folks at gather, due to some sort of glitch, after they did fix it, my mail box at AOL has been swamped to the point that my husband complained he could find his mail....so after pondering it a bit I came up with a great idea, which I'm sure many of you have already done, but sometimes I'm a bit slow..;(

Anyway, since as I mentioned I'm on AOL, I do have 4 e-mail addresses which I hardly ever use...Why not I thought, so I edited my settings yesterday and changed my e-mail address here...Now all I have to do is switch screen names to see all the Gather mail at one time...Hubby is happy, and I'm happy to be able to see other e-mail again in my old address...

Just thought I'd share that for anyone who has had the same problem I was having..

Barbara, I haven't been on AOL in many years, but you may also have the ability to set 'filters' within your email program. These filters will automatically direct mail from Gather into a special folder you establish specifically for that purpose. This will prevent email notifications from Gather clogging up your inbox, and keeps things organized. Most email programs today provide this type of capability.

Hmm, I didn't think of that..but so far this is working out fine for me...but if I get tired of going back and forth, maybe I might do what you suggest...Thanks

I have mine set up to go to a different folder....I have all my mail set up that way.

You could also set your Gather settings so you receive all your notifications in one email - although this does not seem to work for me.

Barbara that's a great suggestion!

I get a lot of mail that I have to respond to on a daily basis and at the same time I like my Gather notifications because they keep me posted of what's going on here when I'm not.

I would very much like to see a feature which alerts you when a new comment is made in a thread where you have previously commented.... it is sooo tedious having to wade back through every comment of the day before to see if anything needs to be responded to. Ugh.

That would be a great idea...I'm just lost with all these connections and notifications whether it's groups or individual....I may just go back to our old tried and true...

I use several hotmail accounts for various things to keep them seperated and keep the junk out of my main personal email account.
