Anchor Babies and Medical ACCESS....JUST SAY NO TO ILLEGALS

Illegal Aliens do not want us knowing the true costs of THEIR ANCHOR BABIES, now in excess of FOUR MILLION...the costs to the American Tax payer is hidden, as our government does not include costs of the care for children born to ILLEGAL ALIENS in their own costs of ILLEGAL ALIENS ON AMERICAN SOCIETY.  Well, that needs to change, and we need to deport ILLEGALS, and their children.  We need to close the loopholes in our laws, or change laws that wrongfully allow ILLEGAL ALIENS to use our hospitals as their primary care physicians, and stop using ANCHOR BABIES as a means by which to rape America's social service network, while foisting the cost of raising their children off on the American taxpayers.

Just how high are these costs...lets look at JUST ONE EXAMPLE:

Cristobal Silverio emigrated illegally from Mexico to Stockton, Calif., in 1997 to work as a fruit picker.

He brought with him his wife, Felipa, and three children, 19, 12 and 8 – all illegals. (THAT IS FIVE ILLEGALS FOLKS) When Felipa gave birth to her fourth child, daughter Flor, the family had what is referred to as an "anchor baby" – an American citizen by birth who provided the entire Silverio clan a ticket to remain in the U.S. permanently.

But Flor was born premature, spent three months in the neonatal incubator and cost the San Joaquin Hospital more than $300,000. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Lourdes married an illegal alien gave birth to a daughter, too. Her name is Esmeralda. And Felipa had yet another child, Cristian.

The two Silverio anchor babies generate $1,000 per month in public welfare funding for the family. Flor gets $600 a month for asthma. Healthy Cristian gets $400. While the Silverios earned $18,000 last year picking fruit, they picked up another $12,000 for their two "anchor babies."

HOW MANY AMERICANS WOULD LOVE such a bonanaza of FREE MONEY?  Keep in mind, that $12,000 a year paid to this family does not include additional FREE MEDICAL COSTS, nor SCHOOLING BEING PAID FOR US, that's actual CASH IN THEIR HAND money above and beyond other FREE SOCIAL SERVICES THEY ARE USURPING.

While President Bush says the U.S. needs more "cheap labor" from south of the border to do jobs Americans aren't willing to do, the case of the Silverios shows there are indeed uncalculated costs involved in the importation of such labor – public support and uninsured medical costs.

In fact, the increasing number of illegal aliens coming into the United States is forcing the closure of hospitals, spreading previously vanquished diseases and threatening to destroy America's prized health-care system, says a report in the spring issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

A recent study states that it costs and average of $7,600 a year to educate each ANCHOR BABY in America.  There are over FOUR MILLION Anchor babies in America, plus hordes of children here ILLEGALLY that have to be educated, as the above story shows.  Do the math on just that FOUR MILLION, and the COSTS ARE STAGGERING.  This ONE COST ALONE is over THIRTY BILLION A YEAR that American TAX PAYERS are having to cover, so that children of ILLEGALS can have a free ride education of their children.

Medical costs are soaring, and all you have to do is look at the Illegal Alien population, and their ANCHOR BABIES to understand why this is so.  To them, have no medical insurance is NO PROBLEM, as they use EMERGENCY ROOMS as their primary physicians, walking out the door cured, never intending on paying the bills!

Not being insured does not mean they don't get medical care.

Under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1985, hospitals are obligated to treat the uninsured without reimbursement....

According to the report, between 1993 and 2003, 60 California hospitals closed because half their services became unpaid. Another 24 California hospitals verge on closure, the author writes.

"American hospitals welcome 'anchor babies,'" says the report.... Anchor babies are citizens, and instantly qualify for public welfare aid: Between 300,000 and 350,000 anchor babies annually become citizens because of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside."

Among the organizations directing illegal aliens into America's medical systems, according to the report, are the Ford Foundation-funded Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Immigration Law Center, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association's Commission on Immigration Policy, Practice, and Pro Bono, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the National Council of La Raza, George Soros's Open Society Institute, the Migration Policy Institute, the National Network for Immigration and Refugee Rights and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Imagine organizations that recieve OUR TAX DOLLARS advocating for ILLEGALS to ABUSE OUR SYSTEMS, and our GENEROSITY. This is why Americans MUST WRITE THEIR POLITICIANS, and DEMAND that all funding to ALL ORGANIZATIONS such as LA Raza be ended if they SUPPORT the Pro-ILLEGAL ALIEN movement in America.  Again,these organizations RECIEVE MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of dollars from our FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to advocate for these illegals who are RAPING OUR MEDICAL SYSTEM, ROBBING OUR WELFARE SYSTEM, and again these costs are NOT INCLUDED IN THE COSTS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS being in our society.

Though Illegal Alien Advocates don't want Americans knowing this, ILLEGAL ALIENS are bringing DISEASES into our nations, diseases we had ERADICATED from our society.  TB in America was GONE, but no more as ILLEGAL ALIENS from Mexico reintroduce it into our cities across America.

Many illegals entering this country have tuberculosis, according to the report.

..."TB's swift, deadly return now is lethal for about 60 percent of those infected because of new Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. Until recently MDR-TB was endemic to Mexico. This Mycobacterium tuberculosis is resistant to at least two major anti-tubercular drugs.... Latent disease explodes later....

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ascribed 42 percent of all new TB cases to 'foreign born' people who have up to eight times higher incidences apparently, 66 percent of all TB cases coming to America originate in Mexico, the Philippines and Vietnam."

Other health threats from illegals include, according to the report:
Chagas disease, also called American trypanosomiasis or "kissing bug disease," is transmitted by the reduviid bug, which prefers to bite the lips and face.... The disease also infiltrates America's blood supply... No cure exists....
Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease... is endemic to northeastern states because illegal aliens and other immigrants brought leprosy from India, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico.
Dengue fever is exceptionally rare in America... Recently, according to the report, there was a virulent outbreak of dengue fever in Webb County, Texas, which borders Mexico....

Polio was eradicated from America, but now reappears in illegal immigrants as do intestinal parasites, says the report.
Malaria was obliterated, but now is re-emerging in Texas.
The Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons report includes a strong prescription for protecting the health of Americans:
Closing America's borders with fences, high-tech security devices and troops.
Rescinding the U.S. citizenship of "anchor babies."
Punishing the aiding and abetting of illegal aliens as a crime.
An end to amnesty programs.

As you can quickly see, our attitude towards granting citizenship to these ANCHOR BABIES needs to change...WHY...because, ILLEGALS are using babies as a means to their end, using these ANCHOR BABIES to get a free ride off the American TAXPAYERS.

Arizona is the temporary home of 500,000 illegal aliens. They cost Arizona taxpayers over $1 billion annually in services for schools, medical care, welfare anchor babies, loss of tax base and prisons.

 

Over 300,000 women annually arrive pregnant and drop them on U.S. soil. The American taxpayer pays for food, housing, medical and schooling for them to age 18 PLUS their mother. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, average annual cost per child K-12 is $7,161.00 and exceeds $109 billion annually per cycle of anchor babies.

The average head of household illegal alien costs you $2,700.00 in welfare money over and above any taxes he or she pays in their meager paying jobs. With 15 to 20 million illegal aliens in the USA, that figures exceeds $20 billion of your tax dollars. (Source: Center for Immigration Studies, August 2004)

Write, call and FAX your elected officials, tell them to CLOSE THE ANCHOR BABY LOOP HOLE.  We can no longer afford Mexico using our nation as the dumping ground for their poor.  It is time to see the TRUE COSTS of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION RUN AMUCK in America.

While working temporarily in "The Valley" of south Texas, I was standing in line behind a young Hispanic woman and her apparently healthy and able husband. They were buying steaks and Blue Bell Ice Cream, on the Lone Star Card, otherwise known as food stamps. I can't afford Blue Bell Ice Cream, and steaks for our dinners. We help pay for those on welfare to do it I'm sad to say.

You are so very correct, and this is why America needs to wake up to what can only be called a BLIGHT on our society in the name of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Neighborhoods are losing their Emergency Rooms, even their hospitals because Illegal Aliens are abusing the system, and using the ER as their primary physician. Further, they and their ANCHOR BABY children are placing such a large financial burden on these hospitals, that they are closing their doors. One hospitals in Texas last year delivered over 16,000 children to illegals at and average cost to the taxpayers of $6,000.

In short, illegal aliens have figured out how to rape our system, and take advantage of our generosity...it is time to close our doors and deny them the ability to rape our system in such an egregious fashion.

People like you bother me, thinking that you are so rightous. Tell me are you a Native American? Because this country was built on immigrants. At the time there was no immigration system, so any one who wanted came as they pleased. Not to mention that all the people who truly belong in this country were killed and raped for there land. So whe you tend to look at the future look at the past, and ask yourself who am I? and where do I descend from? So please do me a favor and get off your high horse, and worry more about your life than others. People like you talk about the law and how the breaking the law is the biggest issue on this topic, but tell me have you followed the law 100% regardless of how small the infractions are, If you can say yes without lying than I will say no more. So please worry about your life, live long and live well.

Listen, I live in Tucson, I'm fine with my tax money giving people (you know, humans) quality medical care. Especially for a premature baby.

Uh, no it doesn't. When the baby turns 21 she can attempt to get visas for her family members, but her status as a U.S. citizen does not change her family members' status when she's born. They can still be deported.

Thank you for speaking out, more people need to do this and hold government accountable. We pay taxes to be be protected, our life, liberty and pusuit of happiness.
It is being stolen. I see it every day, here in the SOuth. We are heading for a civil war once people realize how many are actually here.
Our government is not doing us justice, we need a crew of lawyers to sue the government for our tax money back because they are not doing there part. I voted for Bush, but he (and republican party) have lost my support. We need a new party.

My daughter had to live in Colorado when her husband's job made them move there. They didn't make a lot of money, actually, they were making what most would call poverty wages. Well, my daughter had to go to the clinic where most of the people who couldn't afford to go elsewhere went. As she sat in the waiting room, she talked to a Hispanic woman. The woman told her that she was there to have her fourth abortion. In essence, the woman was using tax money to pay for her birth control. This is how the system is abused. If this makes you angry, let your congressperson know how you feel and tell them to stop the abuse. People will abuse the system if the system is there for them to abuse and that includes our hospital systems.

Barbara, Medicaid doesn't pay for abortion unless it's a case of rape, incest, or life endangerment. And Hispanic still does not equal non-citizen.

Sandy....if you believe the Catholic Church, they'll tell you what they are doing in aiding and abetting illegals is not a crime as well, claim it is the only right and humane thing to do....but then, they told us for years that priests were not molesting children too.....

Everyone on the side of illegals claims THEY ARE DOING NOTHING WRONG.....keeping thinking that way, and with any luck, the House's version of immigration reform will become law.

I know several healthy, educated, legal American women who would rather collect government assistance than get a job to take care of their children. Whatever happened to tolerance? Forget the legal status of their immigration - these are people trying to lead better lives in our country, taking jobs that a lot of American citizens disdain - these are PEOPLE. How can we speak with so much authority about deciding how they should live? Should we condemn people to poverty and poor health care because we are intolerant? The system is abused because the system is imperferct, as all governments are (to say the least).

It's better to accept and love and want to learn more about different peoples and cultures rather than live in anger and indignation that burns holes in our bellies and hearts.

Michele, both generosity,and tolerance have their limits.

America yearly lets over ONE MILLION people immigrate to America LEGALLY...we are talking half a million people entering America ILLEGALLY.

Further, since Mexico is the biggest abuser of our borders, look to their own immigration policy as example...their borders are CLOSED, sealed shut,and they would never tolerate this situation.

Well, finally, I finished reading all of the postings heretofor, and I would like to add one more thing. I have no disdain for people wanting to better themselves. I would like to point out the way our system is set up to care for people is good, but there must be some limits set for everyone. Four abortions is three too many in my estimation. It should not be paid for by tax dollars. Yes, the abortions at the clinics are done on a sliding scale as best I can understand as my daughter's care in her checkup was based on income, family size, and debt. If we have the systems in place, they will come, legal and illegal and they will abuse the system. It's the system that's broken, not us. Tell your congressman or woman to fix it.

Excuse me Amy, but I do know the status of the woman who had multiple abortions. She was married and had other children. She told my daughter that she didn't need to have an operation to keep her from having other children or birth control since she could keep coming back to the clinic to get rid of the fetus. Any questions?

My you are volatile girl! I stated that I observed a Hispanic woman and her husband. I never said they were illegals. I believe that our system of giveaway programs should have limits. Illegals are attracted to our programs and that is why they come. I live in Texas and I have seen doctors in the valley go out of practice from lawsuit abuses, hospitals close their doors. Is this what we want for the rest of the nation? You decide.

And Jackie, while you profess to know everything about me and my beliefs, I'll let you in on a secret. I lived in the valley of south Texas when I was a small child. A man who lived south of the border would walk across daily with his lawn mower and cut people's grass, if they had any. My mom would hire him to mow our "lawn" which wasn't a lot of grass to mow. We had dirt roads at that time. She would fix him lunch and pay him for his work. Now, call me a bigot if wish, it's your choice, but it will only diminish you.

Amy, again, I interate to you. I am not picking on Hispanics, legal or otherwise. I am picking on the way our government hands out in entitlements many services of which I observed and my daughter observed being used by Hispanics. If that makes me a racist, then I guess I'm the bad guy here! Again, if it was a white woman having four abortions, that would still be three abortions too many in my book.

Your input is a necessary piece of the puzzle for those who have yet to form a solid opinion about illegal immigration.

Whether your methods attract or detract from your cause depends upon your ability to present clean and concise factual material.

It isn't about Amy and Barbara. It isn't about me and Porgie.

It is about accountability on all sides of the issue. It is about justice for victims - any victim. It is about greed and it is about laziness.

If you diminish even one aspect, you imbalance the whole. You lean hard right or hard left.

Then you lose credibility. You are no longer an objective voice - clear and loud. You are one of many, screaming so loud the person on the fence can't hear you.

Since most of the illegals are coming from Mexico, maybe it is time for the Latino people to stop wasting their time demanging rights they are NOT ENTITLED TO, and start spending their time FIXING MEXICO.

We hear about the loss of your home value because Mexicans live on your block.

We hear how Senobia's children are insignificant in every way to you.

We hear how Mexicans rape and plunder USA women - although federal statistics (FBI) state that they are, in fact, a minority percentage.

We hear about deporting 13-20 million consumers will greatly assist the future of this country.

We do really hear your points. You accept no compromise, you are convinced that flesh and blood becomes a thing once it hits USA soil without permission.

We hear you when you state that illegals can't be victims on USA soil - they can't be murdered, robbed or raped by anyone other than another Mexican - because they are illegal.

If ILLEGALS put 20 Billion a year into the government via taxes, but usurp some 60 Billion in services, their net contribution is a NEGATIVE 40 Billion dollars. Yet, you'll try to claim it differently, choosing only to focus on what they PUT INTO THE SYSTEM.

Four Million ANCHOR BABIES already here, and 350,000 more being born each year, but you want to play the PITY CARD, tell us we should figure out a way to let all 20 million illegals stay FOR THE CHILDREN....when criminals are convicted and sent to prison, there is no pardon because they have children, nor should there be. Yet, you want to stack the deck in a fashion that the proverbial PITY CARD is once again the first card turned over.

IF Americans are suffering, if their house values are being negatively affected, if their jobs are being stolen, their wages being driven down, too bad....we should think of those POOR ILLEGALS just trying to better themselves. In short, you again dismise our pains, trump them with the proverbial ILLEGAL ALIEN PITY CARD.

I just finished reading the original post and somewhere in there it said something about Americas prized Health Care System, now that is funny. There are truths in that piece, a myth is that undocumented individuals do not pay taxes. Everyone in this country pays taxes when we buy any item. We are taxed left an right. One thing that bothers me is when they have equal right protests and fly foreign flags. I think one good idea is to require some to serve in the Military since the services have a hard time filling the ranks with red blooded Americans.
Can I be mad with someone who is trying to feed his family and has to leave his country and everything they love? It is a complicated issue, so many factors involved.

Yes, everyone pays tax in some fashion...however, we have a duty and responsiblity (and it is the law) to pay various Federal Taxes, required to file a Federal Income tax return. A large percentage of illegals work under the table...they recieve cash, undeclared income. Here in New York for instance, a Day Laborer earns $100 a day. Working a five day week, 50 weeks a year, that is $25,000 a year. They are for legal purposes considered independent contractors...this means they are responsbile for filing and paying their own tax, including Social security. Conservatively, their tax rate on said income would be 25 percent...this includes FICA taxes, federal income taxes, their New York State tax. In short, they would pay $6,250 in taxes...but they do not. When people say illegals do not pay taxes, this is what they are referring to.

Many people in America are having a HARD TIME OF IT...should we allow them to start breaking laws because they are just trying to feed their families. Do you know how many Americans have been convicted of crimes for doing just exactly that...trying to feed their families?

i've been reading the post and the discussion and i would like to say is this. if an immigrent comes to america , by land sea or air it does not matter but the immigrants wants us to believe that their r good people and that they only come here for a better life for thier famly and want to be able to feed them. ok then if thats all u came her for then why not obey the law of the land and do it the legall way . if your this rightouse person u say u r then u would do it no matter how hard it is cause it wouldn't be as hard as it was for that person to leave his or her native land to get her cause walking through a desert or packed like sardines in a boat or sneaking or a plane to flea a country i'm sure isn't easy either . but instead of doing so these immigrents rather put their sorrow on people who doesn't know anything about them .
we don't know if you left ur country cause ur a murderer , child molester , drug dealer or a conn artist. and if u came here cause ur hungry and u clame ur good people u actually want me to believe that when u went across ur country to get to the border to cross the air sea or desert no one from that country would even feed u ? that just tell me that no one in your whole country is any good including u cause thats where u were born and raised . or u done something so hediouse that they wouldn't even feed u . but just say u r being honest , but its just not u, thiers about thousands more behind u saying the same thing . and if we give sempathy and give u food and shelter u don't stop thier u don't ask u demand more that u don't deserve and that u couldn't get in ur own country . which makes u illegal to do so , so if ur told to leave cause we didn't ask for u to come or stay , insted of doing so u go into hiding and then find some poor sap to be-friend and make them feel sorry for u . then u get a job cause u undercutt that legal worker out of his or her right to that job . when u go to the store to buy food clothing etc. u pay taxes on those thing but when it comes to education , health , social and public programs for kids and the elderly u don't contribute to them but u sure do benifit from them so when those resources reach there limite or becomes to costly u don't care cause all ur concerns is all about ur selfworth and nothing else so those programs for legall people of the country r without . thier left out in the streets cause u think u deserve more then they do . but when a legall person does the same he has the right to do so cause he is legall and as legall citisen we deal with it accordingly. they either go to jail or have to pay that state back the money it lost . but with u being illegal u get deported which cost the legall people of that country even more money to send u home which still cost them even more money cause u as an illegal would turn around and come right back and do it all over again . but in the end when the problem becomes so overwhelming for that country amd the health care , education , jobs , houseing , budget , laws , and people way of life takes a dramatic change for the wosrt . it just shows how much illegal immigrents can be trusted .

Criminals come in all colors, I do not want any of them in my country no matter what their pigment is. Look I think we should have border security and an immigration law that is enforced. Why don't people come here legally? Does anybody here know what the process to do that is? Not what the book says but the reality of the process. I am not about to say that all individuals without legal documents are hard workers, law abiders, or criminals for that matter. Many take advantage of social programs that have weak laws or weak individuals not willing to enforce them. I know of employers who would any day hire and undocumented worker because of his work ethic than many documented workers. There is a lot of gray are in this subject. Why did Europeans leave to what was named America? Why were they willing to leave their country on a dangerous journey across an ocean? Why were they willing to work for minimum wages and in hard living conditions for the idea of a better way of life for themselves and their families? Why were they willing to kill, segregate a group of a people that had been already living in that land and force them to change their way of life?
I truly think America is one of the best countries in the world to live in, I think we are blessed by God. I am grateful everyday and always sing the Anthem with pride and chills through my body. Lets not forget the human element in this problem, try not to let prejudice, ignorance, cloud our common senses.

Yes i do know alot about the process of coming to the USA legally...I also know that alot of people don't come legally because its near immposible to get visas in some countries if the person lives in poverty..which is why some many people want to come --to improve their lives..

I agree with what you said about immigrants paying taxes..and I have to add something about Porgie's comment.. please remember that alot of the illegal immigrants who work in restraunts, walmart and so on (whether they are using a fake social or tax id or whatever) they get taxes withheld with every check just like everyone else..and maybe in some cases if they went to file income taxes the goverment would owe them..

Amy...in MOST CASES, those FAKE ID's are STOLEN. In most cases, that stolen ID being used ILLEGALLY by that illegal alien is ruining an innocent person's life. So again, some comes to America Illegally, stays here illegally, illegally buys a FAKE ID, then uses said criminally obtained FAKE ID to unlawfully secure a job, since it is illegally to be working here if you are illegal, yet you want to defend them by saying they are paying taxes, and go so far as to suggest they JUST MIGHT be owed a refund.

Many people grow and sell small quanities of illicit drugs (pot) to put food on their family's table....should they get a free ride for their crime? We have single mothers in prison for writing bad checks to put food on their family's table, do not see you crying for them to be set free. Curious, there are probably 500 MILLION people (or more) starving to death in the world, living in poverty...should we save all them as well by just throwing open our borders and inviting them all in?

Number one rule of life saving...don't let them pull you under.

Let me ask you this, it may be hard because you may have never experienced this. Your family is going hungry, you live in a place were you cannot make even a modest living, what do you do to feed your family? I would go to Mexico if the roles were reversed no questions asked. If the North was the South we might be in the same situation except we would be the ones called illegals.
I do not encourage breaking the law, but there is a reality we cannot ignore. I repeat I do not want criminals regardless of color, free loaders regardless of their citizenship and they should be dealt with according to the law.

When I was much younger, livng in Jeffersonville Indiana back in the early 60's we were as POOR as they come. We lived on the proverbial wrong side of the tracks, used a broken broom stick handle to push the heads of rats back down into the crawl space, and then my Dad would nail another lid from a tin can over the hole they had chewed through our floor. For six months we had little to eat but oatmeal, that was our dinner.

Dad did what jobs he could, picking up odd jobs here and there until he found something permanent. Once he got earned enough money to buy a new second hand car that he tinkered with on weekends to keep running, Mom was able to find a job doing clerical work over the river in Louisville, us kids would watch after ourselves (we were latch key children before the term was ever coined). We and I knew hard times, lived through hard times.

However, we were raised with values...you always said Yes Ma'am and No Sir to your elders, you made sure you were clean and had washed behind your ears, you did not steal, and believe it or not, we did not take charity...that was for poor people that REALLY NEEDED IT.
By the time I was 7, I was out raking leaves, shoveling snow, cutting lawns...anything I could do to make a buck, anything I could do to help the family make ends meet.
We did what needed to be done, but we were honest, and we were proud of who we were, and what little we had. We'd go find second hand furniture that others had discarded, bring it home, give it a fresh coat of paint, and Mom would save up some money to buy fabric if we'd lucked into an old sofa or something...that was pretty much my life through the fourth grade when we moved away from Jeffersonville back to my Dad's hometown of Ohio. Mexican's, and illegals do not have a monopoly on being poor.

I am curious...what if our nations poor began moving in droves to Mexico, starting making the same kinds of demands there as Mexicans are making here...how well do you think that would be recieved? Do you see Mexico allowing Americans access to their hospitals emergency rooms, allowing our children born there access to their social service structure?

Amy...I am always shocked at those who try to start quantifying the degree of poor someone was...it's like trying to quantify the abuse someone endured.

For the record...our family lost three children, one still born, and the other two a set of twins that only lived a few days. I was fortunate....I got sick at two, spent six weeks in a coma and came out of it.

I wore shoes that were hand me downs from my older brother, used to duct tape them so that the soles did not flip flop as I walked down the hallway at school. Early in my life, our idea of going shopping for new clothes was the Salvation Army. In first grade I needed glasses, which my parents could not afford...through some special program I got glasses....those GOD AWFUL ugly black framed ones three sizes to big for your face that made you look like a dork....poor enough for you, poor enough to have and opinion on this issue?

I don't buy into the whole PITY POT routine people try to feed us where illegals are concerned, there is no excuse for being a criminal, for breaking laws, for stealing the job of someone in just as dire straights as you are in.

Amy...we are who we are, we live the life we've lived. I've lived in many places in America, New Orleans, Jacksonville Florida, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland Maine and here in New York to name a few. I've also experience just about every kind of financial life you could care to discuss....I grew up dirt poor, have been very wealthy, lost it all, been middle class, and right now would put myself in a classification of not rich, but more fortunate than most people.

I've lived by the Ocean, lived in the heart of big cities, lived in rural America, and experienced the burbs...right now, you could say I live in the burbs since I live in a small city of about 25,000 about one hour North of New York City.

When I left home at eighteen, fresh out of high school I had a 1966 Plymouth Fury III I'd bought for $350 with money I'd saved up from working two part time jobs, one in a grocery store, the other in a hardware store. I had that car, a few clothes and $43.00 in my wallet and was heading off to Chicago to SEE THE BIG CITY, as when you grew up in the Midwest, that was the BIG CITY every one dreamed about seeing. The car died about two weeks into being in Chicago, I got laid off from my job, winter was coming and I needed a plan...I enlisted in the Navy.

I am married, second marriage. My first wife was the daughter of the chairman of the board of American Home Products...trust me, that family had SERIOUS MONEY. It was not MY MONEY, I was not rich, but I sure found out how the rich lived. During that time of my life, lived in New Canaan Ct, which has been made famous lately because that is the home of Anne Coulter. Back in 1980 a cheap house in that town was $350,000. Was not my cup of tea, but I learned a lot.

I did not get my first college degree until I was in my forties, but graduated with a 3.94 GPA, and am a member of the National Honor Society.

As you can see, it's been a full life filled with a myriad number of experiences from all over the map. If you have been following me here on Gather since I joined, I was not online for most of Tuesday...I was working on a political campaign as politics interest me. I've also been a volunteer on the Crisis Hot Line phones, fully trained, have my certifications. On the flip side of the equation...my younger brother SCREWED UP, he broke the law, and he sits in a prison out in Arkansas until the year 2015...he broke the law, he is where he should be, I don't seek or demand special exclusions for him because he is family, and what he did was so egregious that I have completely disowned him and have not had contact with him now in ten years, and will not have contact with him when he gets out. I live my life by a strict set of rules, hold others to the same standards I hold myself to. If I found out one of my family was dating an illegal, I'd report them...it is who I am.

amy is forgetting one thing. if ur country is holding u down that illegal immigrent chose to leave his home of origent , his kids and wife and mothers who leaves thier child to starve . left that child thier to challeng the laws of that country cause mommy or daddy didn't care enough to defend them so what kind of parents r they and if another country deport them back to use a child to stay any parent would take thier child with them no matter where they have to . so once again illegals don't want to take care of thier own or thier children they whant others to do so. and i don't want to hear that crap about americans do it also . i don't wanna hear that cause they r americans doing it in america not in another country complaning like illegals do.

I keep hearing that illegals complain....I don't hear my illegals complain - in fact, I receive quiet acceptance from a six month pregnant woman sleeping on a hard-wood floor. I receive quiet acceptance from a brother and sister who have no clothing because the antique mobile home they lived in at the camp, burned down....

Please do not confuse pro-immigrant groups with the immigrants/migrants themselves.

Do you know personally an immigrant who complains? Have you talked with them about their lives and views?

Or, are you simply buying into all the rhetoric?

Jackie....you get PAID to present illegals in their best light, get paid to evoke sympathy in the hearts of the American public....after all, you would not want your funding to dry up now would you? You have and Agenda, and a bias even if you do not care to admit it. No funding, no job, and not job means no paycheck, and I'd bet money you would not do this if you were not being paid.

You want to advocate for criminals, illegal aliens, while I want to advocate for AMERICANS, LEGAL CITIZENS.

Ever been to the coal country in Kentucky, southern Ohio and West Virginia? Guess what, America has POVERTY, has people in need our OUR HELP. Tell me, why should your illegals take precedent over them? Why should these people be pushed out of jobs so that your poor illegals can be helped?

That poor boy who's getting sick picking Tobacco...he's here illegally, and what did you do? You sent him into the city to find a different job, a job that belongs to and American. You aided and abetted a criminal, and you are proud of it. You might find it harsh, but in my mind, that makes you a traitor to America. You want to advocate for poor people, and be paid by American tax payers....go get a job in some of our poorest communities advocating for our poor, our oppressed. Check out South Eastern Ohio, there are several counties there where the majority of the citizens are living at or below the poverty level.

My people are just fine, Porgie. It's the rest of the world and ill-informed bigots like yourself who think they need help. We live and die by our own code in Appalachia and we don't need you outsiders drawing us into this. We keep to ourselves and guess what? We know where the jobs are. WE head out four and five at a time to work construction when the mines go down to build our houses or buy a car. Worse comes worse, we harvest a nice crop of 'smoke' to tie us over til the mines start up again.

Oh, and by the way - the mines are working. In fact they're working so hard and fast - there aren't enough workers in WV and KY to fill the employment needs....hmmmm.....go figure! Last time that happened the companies shipped in a bunch of IMMiGRANTS to do the job.....

You REALLY should cease discussing what topics that you are absolutely clueless about.

We aren't a freakin' statistic in Appalachia - I don't care how the rest of the world views us - don't you dare try to use the fact that we don't like strangers of any race, from any place, in our communities.

One brother and one sister of mine were born in Kentucky
and my Dad used to travel around opening up all the Jerry's that dotted the landscape of Kentucky. My mother at one time worked for the President of Speedway Motor Raceways in Louisville....trust me, I am not as naive as you might think when it comes to Appalachia. You don't go down into some of those hollers if you are an outsider.

This is not personal, I could give my poor story however, the points you make are valid," In this country". Nobody wants our security compromised, again, what point of entry did terrorist use to come into the country? You cannot blanket every undocumented as a freeloader and a criminal, many would never ask for a handout, many of them abuse the system.
That is great about our nation, with hard work, most can rise above the poorest and be able to buy a computer and express thier thoughts on an internet site, forget about your hardships and tell others oh well.

Yeah well, Porgie seems inclined to use anything, no matter how far reaching, for self-interest rather than debating the issue as an intelligent adult.

He attacks beliefs that oppose him with rhetoric and personal insults. He insists that those of us who want to recognize an illegal immigrant as human - is less American, less patriotic and well somehow just plain LESS than he is.

Yes, Porgie, you struck a nerve. You made me remember why I feel so strongly about this group of people. Did you make me cry - yes. Did you make me angry - yes. Did you make feel like throwing in the towel - nope.

A whole mountain of you couldn't stop me...I'm used to climbing mountains...and I'm used to arriving at the top.

Jackie...with your list of ten questions, you are not one to be talking about pulling out TRICKS....give me a break.

As for mountains and climbing...I know what it's like to be seen as a hill-a-billie, mockingly referred to as a briar, and having people think I'm a bit slow because of my accent, but I just keep plugging along....I don't climb mountains, I tend to go through them.

I put up facts....you side just does not like them. The articles I post are true news stories, you just don't want people knowing such horrid acts are perpetrated by illegals. The illegal raping a puppy, it happened, the high rate of vehicular deaths caused by drunken illegals is true, and in fact they did a piece on it late last night on FOX....supposed now you want to claim FOX is against your side as well?

As for seeing them LESS than human....WRONG...I see them as humans who do not belong in America.

When you tend to just list one side, you do not examine the problem entirely, over simplistic solutions do not work. Send them all back on planes, boats, buses, yeah that most likely will not happen. What do you do? Drawbacks and benefits, they are the results of undocumented workers, not only one result but both. I love the FOX network, but I do not take everything out of the media as unquestionable facts, I do not do that with any press media, even FOX has been accused of being far right, I still watch them the most of all. Undocumented individuals do not belong here by law, from any country, Ukraine, Nigeria, China, Pakistan, Europe, Latin America. What is the reality, they are here! Why aren't we mad at the government, and I am not only talking of the Bush Administration I am talking of all the past administrations who stood by and did nothing. Greedy business owners who pocket money by paying low wages. How about those of us not willing to pay more money for produce and other products that underpaid immigrants facilitate. Do you really thing that healthcare will somehow fix itself if we seal the border? Many Americans go into Mexico to buy medicine, or to Canada because the prices are more reasonable. But all the problems of this great country somehow seem to have their roots with undocumented individuals, ilegals, immigrants, send them all back, start with the first people who immigrated here, why not?
I was just being sarcastic, criminals if undocumented send them back to their home country, Build the wall, it will not work 100% but it will be a deterrent. Hire more Border Patrol, that would be a start. What realistic solution does anyone else have?

The most successful ENFORCEMENT actions against illegal aliens occurred in the 50's under Dwight Eisenhower, and though illegals find it distasteful, Operation Wetback as it was named shows that we can actually reign in and reverse illegal immigration through strong work place enforcement, and targeted round ups of those who are here illegally. Once every one saw that the proverbial party was over, a great many of those here illegally actually self deported themselves.

So, despite the rhetoric, the solutions are simple, and would work.

1. Shut off the job magnet through strong work place enforcement measures, including making the hiring the hiring of illegals a felony.
2. Take the same steps as in one above for all persons providing aid and comfort to illegals, including housing. If someone knows they can be sent to prison for renting to an illegal, they are not going to do it.
3. Plug all levels of law enforcement into the equation, untie their hands and let them start asking the legal status of those they stop for various infractions of our penal code. We have traffic stops here in New York, they are called safety checks, you have to show your drivers license if asked...these police officers though cannot ask the legal status of someone, even if they do not have a license, registration and insurance card....we need to change that, and let all law enforcement officers help in the round up and deportation of illegals.
4. Through law, eliminate access to all services if you are here illegally....this should include denying services to ANCHOR BABIES.

These simple but effective steps would see Illegal Aliens leaving in droves, rather than risk facing criminal charges and imprisonment for their crimes.

I agree with enforcement of the law, that is the real problem. We also put American Citizens in concentration camp during WWII, of Japanese heritage but citizens non the less. Would we do that, why don't we put another group of Citizens in camps right now? Lets put Arab Americans in camps. (Not what am advocating, I would totally be against it just trying to prove a point). The world and the country has change since the 50's. Put all those people who assist undocumented individuals in jail, well our jail system is not crowded enough, pack five more people in a two man cell. Law enforcement would have to ask every one for legal documents because undocumented individuals do not only come in brown color. In major cities the Cops would love stopping people to ask them for documents instead of following the Bad guys, and by Bad guys I mean rapist, murderers… Not to mention the time they would need to process all the paperwork for that, if you have any idea of how law enforcers work most of it is paperwork, why not add a little more? I know what you are about to say all the criminals in the country are illegal.

how about this if u don't have anything that has marritt it shouldn't be said . if amarica did what mexico is doing to it'd people would we be here still arguing this fact about illegals i don't think so, would all those illegals be riskying everything to get here ? no i don't think so . so if your for the illegals your the biggest problem your people have it's jerks like u and everyone from mexico thats deserves the country to be overdrown by another and ruled by another cause instead of showing your children leadership istead they rather abandon them into poverty and leave it up to them to make a change someday . but u rather sit here and tell americans whats wrong in thier own country instead of making changes in your own . so stop making america a problem instead of mexico . it's people like u that makes people hate ur kind . it's people like u that make people think that everyone from mexico r a bunch of ignorent child molester over barering drunken jerks , a bunch of criminals just throwing rocks at the penitentury's cause they can't help themselves cause at birth they r tought to lie cheat and steal and that they will continue to do so until the day they die.
and if i sound mad to u , thats cause i am , and i have the right to do so cause i'm an amarican and as one i don't approve of what the illegals r getting away with . because it's people like u that try to make us feel it's immoral to send 1 , 100 , 1000 , 20,000,000 million illegals home . but u don't think the same of mexico starving it's people or forcing it's own people out of thei own country to find refuge some where else. but u think u have a right to tell us how to live in our country
