FIX THE EDIT FUNCTION!! �

Attention Gather Members -

Should you decide to go in and edit your article for ANY reason the site will publish a NEW ARTICLE.  Since the site was down the other night for 30 minutes this feature has now occurred each time I edit.

I have an article that lists all my groups and I have regularly been updating it without incident.  Then the site was down for maintenance and my udpate turned into a new article, twice - this was last nite.

Today I post an article and then scan an image to add and edit to upload the image and guess what was splattered throughout my article - even though I never updated the content

Although it does not look like this in one line, it occurs after a sentence has ended with any type of mark, be it a period of a ?

I want my article to look the way I TYPED IT, not with these bothersome �  �

Get on the stick and get this fixed, otherwise each time a member has to edit there are going to be duplicate articles all over the site.  As it is now how often is a newly created group duplicated.  Ever look at the groups tab and then click on find to see sometimes 4 listings for the same new group.

Can we say glitch?

This should take top priority on all gather issues..........

I do not want this crap in my articles and I want to update my article in a smooth manner without issues taking place.

Can this be accomplished?        And this is what I think - �

Posting and editing articles on GATHER are far to time consuming, especially when you want to edit them. It realy gets bad when you want to cut and past a formatted text.

Boy isn't that the truth Douglas. I posted one using the cut and paste method and it was screwy when it posted. It isn't just you Bonnie, its Gather.

The thing is that I type my articles directly into the text box on the site. I do not cut and paste anything and no matter what the edit it, usually to add another group to post or add a tag or an image, it somehow changes the characters in the text box.

I went into my article and it was a whole line here and there of that stuff. First time I go into edit and it is a few characters and it publishes a new article and then go in again and it gets worse.

I closed all other gather windows and this time it worked.

Now to go delete the extra articles and try my groups article to edit.

I reported somewhere else having troubles editing and also when adding photos after the article was written.......in my case, the text all goes in one loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg line
Very annoying to say the least. I haven't had the particular problem you mention though.

i don't have this problem, either Bonnie. It has only happened once. I write in Word, except for short articles.

You actually are at risk for losing your entire article in vaporspace by writing it in the publishing tool.

I go back and edit all my articles all the time. I ALWAYS have to edit out the HTMl that accompanies publshing...

SO, I'm not sure what the difference between what you do and what I do...that accounts for you running into this problem and i'm not....

I have to say I haven't had that issue, although a couple tiny little glitches...yes. But I write in notepad then copy and paste it here. I've learned the hard way!!!

Frustrations I have yet (knock on wood) to experience. I've edited fairly often, but never write articles directly in any on-line site, always paste in.

I never use Word, or a plain text editor, I just type into the little box. I rarely edit an article after it's been published.

As a consequence, I haven't experienced these problems.
I haven't published lately, so I haven't had any problems. I have noticed gather has been 'glitchy' the past few time I've logged in, though. Hopefully things will get settled.
