My Teacher said-
' you were very good, you were very good'
and she rubbed my scratched hurting knees , helping me put on the large hardboard wall props round my neck; one large board covering me from the shoulders to the knees in front and the other covering my back.
Actually I had tripped and fallen flat on the stage. The play was 'A Mid summer Nights Dream' by William Shakespeare and I was one of the skilled workers, carpenters running for life at seeing the Donkeys head. I was in class 6th in the Presentation Convent and my teacher was the great unforgettable Sister Francis.I can still hear her comforting words.
Immediately after the running scene I had a role of The Wall and had to be on stage . My teachers encouragement gave me the strength.
My Teacher said
' who will write something for the college magazine? 'Anjum! Where is she?
Ah yes, there you are. you are an imaginative girl, why don't you try something'
The result . A short story 'The Desire of The Moth for The Star' My teacher was the co author of the ending of the story.
My teacher said you are always talking, don't you want to pass?
I stood first in class.
I guess I took my teacher seriously and my teacher worried about me and gave me the encouragement.
Teacher's talk matters and makes a great difference.
