Riverbank Sketch
Tight wild river winds
Grayish clouds scud quickly by
To steel white water
Redwoods bear their tall burden
Of fickle wind and eagles

I can't wait for you to share your work with all the fine poets at Gather! I loved your poem "Rainy Oregon Days" and I'm sure these folks will, too.
Thank you, BJ.
Thank you for your kind comments.
I would imagine that being able to author beautiful poetry requires that you first read a lot of poetry.
I am not big on poetry (or at least, last time I checked, I may have to rethink it after seeing this) -- but its incredible to me how you managed to bring to the surface such vivid images and emotions with so few words.
Good work, Mr. Ross
Thank you for that. Believe me, it's only a matter of a few nouns and verbs that tie subjects YOU care about with the actions that apply to them.
The form is five lines of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables in each. They are non rhyming so you don't have to worry about that. Nuances of flow and seasons, stuff like that can come later. What the poets that gather here do is love their subjects and put them into situations that show their value to us all--hopefully like the redwood tree and the wind and the eagles.
Give it a shot. You've shown your sensitivity in your wonderful comment. The folks that drop by here would love to see your efforts and encourage you.
