Will the telenovella concept work for prime time?

13 weeks of 6 nights a week soap operas in Prime Time? (8pm-10pm) Seems like a bold move to me. We have a TV station in the Tampa area that will be trying this new format.

I think it will depend entirely on the quality of content. If it's as unwatchable as the former UPN, which it replaces, it'll sink without a trace. On the other hand, if the writing, acting and production values are even slightly above the current average, it might fly. I, for one, would like an alternative to the cheap and cheesy string of "reality" shows that have taken over the major networks.

I watched a bit of a video on the two shows in this format. One is about crimes and affairs, the other is about fashion, materialism, and catty/bitchy women. Not my idea of entertainment. If they had more substance, I could see myself getting interested, especially since you can catch up with the show on Saturdays.
