Lots of people are without power in Virgina, Maryland, DC. Were any gatherers affected? If you are without power, of course, we won't hear from you until power gets restored, but hopefully you will keep us abreast of affects from the storm.
yesterday in southeast virginia was more than the weather man bargained for! we got almost 8 inches of water in about 5 hours, the wind wasn't as bad as I've seen, but between the wind we had and the water I watched all day praying we wouldn't flood. i went outside the townhouse complex twice and hand cleaned the debris from the storm drains hoping to keep the water flowing. we were lucky this time. was without power for most of yesterday but was one of the lucky ones who had power restored last night. my sister in gloucester, va is still without power (in rural area no power means no water as well as electricity because they have wells) and my daughter in king william also is still without power tonight. we still consider that we were fortuante this time, last time we had anything near this was Isabel in 2003 and it took weeks to get power restored after than one blew in!!

Yes, hopefully things will get restored back to normal soon. I think some of the damage probably is due to trees coming down on power lines, after the ground is saturated. Fortunately, Ernesto wasn't a strong hurricane. As Houston learned a couple of years ago, even tropical storms can present serious difficulties.
