Pontiac(1720-1769) was a leader of the largest league of Native Americans the Europeans had yet to know.Like Tecumesh after him,he saw Indian help as the only way to stop the futher western settlement by European Americains Pontiac made peace with the British in 1754.He wrote a poem about his dream called "The Wolf"
I found this very intersting to know by him having a dream and reciting his words it help to stop a war before it had gotten any worse then what it was.

After Pontiac was assassinated, part of the tribe was forced to go west to Kansas to live on a reservation there. Later, that land was taken away and the tribe resettled in Oklahoma. Most of the language and history was lost to the tribe after that.
Then, about 30 years ago, members of the Oklahoma tribe got into contact with the decendants of the 'other half' of the tribe. They had gone to Canada and settled around Manitoulin Island, Ontario. They managed to keep the language and a lot of the oral history intact, making it possible for Ottawas in the Oklahoma tribe to reconnect to our cultural and lingustic heritage.
Thanks for remembering Pontiac, and taking the time to write about him.
Thank you
