It's great to recognize and support those who take a stand --- they do so with great risk and it's wonderful to see people have their backs while they stick out their necks.

Thanks for the link. Isn't it a sad comment on the state of democracy in out media driven society that we should be so impressed by a citizen enacting his right to free speech? How strange it is that adjectives like, courageous, gutsy and patriotic spring to mind when someone in a position of some influeence has the decency to share his honest views; to speak truth to power. Sadly, there are increasingly few with such courage. Keith Olbermann, Steve Carrel - at his scathing National Press Club speech, perhaps a handful more that I am aunaware of. Now, for a moment, just a moment, imagine with me that the leadership of the democratic party took a lesson from such individuals, imagine that they forsook the failed tactic of trying to appear tougher on war than the republicans, and that, to a man and woman, they stood and proclaimed loudly, like Olbermann, what they felt to be the truth. Even were it to mean that they might lose precious votes, they might yet re-energize a voting public that is more interested in voting against the republicans than for the democrats.
I hope and pray that this may one day occur; that the Deans, the Clintons, and the Kerrys of the party might be overtaken by the Kuchinichs and the Wellstones. That there may yet be found a democrat who is not afraid to be called a LIBERAL.
