"The whole world is a very narrow bridge and the main thing is not to have fear at all"
-Rabbi Nachman from Brashlav
Standing on a bridge at night
should i let out ,
that scream
that struggles to come out?
or should i go back
to the place where i started from?
I don't know the place anymore
on the other side of the bridge
and the rule is
you can not go back
only foreward
cross the bridge
or stay in the place
where i stand
looking into the dark
water
seeking to spot
the light that comes
from fish swimming
the frog jumps
as a comical relief.
be serious ,i say
hey
this is a deep place
but surely it is better
to laugh at the frog jumping
than to consider jumping
from the bridge..
i stay at the place
where i have been
for years
crossing the bridge
looking down
feeling the fright
of a decision
not taken ,
living a life
spent
walking across a suspended bridge,
taking comfort in the bridge
being there
holding me.
