I started out on the waiting list for Shoppers Hotline before becoming a participant. I have been a panelist for many years now. I have a scanning machine that is hooked up to the phone line. Each time I shop I scan all the items, no matter if it was at the auto store, pet store, drug store, discount store, conveniencve store, the mall or the grocery store.
A few years ago I also became a panelist for their pharmacy system called Rx Pulse. Each week you input whether you picked up any prescriptions and get 5 points for that week.
They combine the points for both systems and have two levels for what you can redeem your points for. There are gift cards and household products. There are surveys they send select households based on your data and some are filled out and mailed back with others for the scanner to input.
These surveys have bonus points. They have a toll-free phone number at 1-800-528-7383 for members to call. I have called many times when I received a survey past the date they would give the points. They always accommodate for mailing and now they seem to have expanded the dates.
I did a survey for a few months period on soup consumption that brought 225 points. They have sweepstakes every quarter, with an entry recorded each time you scan. I received one time a $50 American Express Cheque for one of these sweepstakes.
The newsletter shares scanning tips and questions plus a recipe swap. I always redeem for Target gift cards and note on my bulletin board the date I redeemed and it takes less than a month to get it.
This is like a Nielsen family for televison - we are scanners for shopping to learn habits, see what families purchase, etc. There is also a section on the scan button for internet shopping to record your purchases. Basically you scan the upc code and then enter the final price. The options are more detailed for pet store shopping. They want to know the quantity, individual price, if it was on sale and on display.
The name of the Research Company is Shoppers Hotline. I have never seen anything of a referral program, but since people come here to Gather for points and to redeem I thought I would share this wonderful program that I am part of. You can also get your kids to do the scanning and send in photos for the newsletter.

*crosses fingers*
Some sort of gather bug that needs fixing......
The most time consuming pain in the world!
I have almost 40,000 points but I haven't seen anything I wanted to redeem for yet. A lot of people are motivated by all the sweepstakes entries but they don't do anything for me.
I got an invitation to join shoppers hotline a few months ago, but one of their first questions in the registration process asked if I were a member of another scanning program so I didn't continue.
It took so long to cash out, once a year $50.
Wasn't worth the time to scan everything, surveys and Rx pulse.
Whne I told them to take the machine back they told me "exciting news" as they were changing the way they do rewards.
Now if you scan x amt of weeks per quarter you get $2 on a debit card. OR you can cash in that lovely $2 for a sweepstakes entry to win a chance for "wonderful new products". He read the whole thing form a script, stopped and could hear him whisper a few lines to himself and then he would read another line with enthusiasm..
Laughed in his ear and said NO gimme the box and I will send back you piece of crud.
Got the box in record time, packe dit up and ready to go to mailbox, the dang thing started emitting little beeps every hour. The way security is lately I thought, no way I'm going to send something making noise in the mail.
Ripped it back open to take out battery (used a fork to unscrew bottom) , now I need more tape.
Not to scare anyone away, you may scan more than we did. I buy in bulk, less trips, so didn't have much chance to scan.
I know they recently changed from gift cards to stores and other items to just plain gift cards that are not debit cards. I am less than one hundred away from ordering a $25 one so glad to know that and hope it will happen before end of month so it is here in time for holidays.
I most likely scan more as I do a few trips a week and do little things like rite aid and walgreens. Then with shopping at barnes and noble with the gift cards from gather that is helping.
