Now that there is a storm on the horizen of Miami, people are in a panic mode...I just returned from trying to buy gasoline and I couldn't believe what I found...Regular gas---sold out...plus...sold out, only premium available...How can that happen so fast? Is it the gas stations that just want us to shell out more money? After the storms last year and the shortages that occurred you would think the gas companies would be prepared...People were filling ou 5-10 cans of gas for their generators, the lines were blocking traffic...It was insane. And most likely this will be just a small tropical storm...Hopef ully....:) Well, I'd better do some of my preparations just in case...

Call me after it passes if you can and let me know you're alright, k?
As far as the gas running out... each station can only hold so much of each grade of gas at a time. People are filling their tanks and cans and the lines are crazy long, I can see easily how they would run out of gas. Each station can only get deliveries so many times (remember the trucks have to drive it to them). I'm very frustrated with this situation too, and scared! I can't deal another 2 weeks with no electric like with Wilma! Last year luckily we were at least able to get a hotel room but this time we don't have the money or CC's to do it. This leaves me in a bad situation. Because of my health I can not be without air conditioning and one of the MANY things that can happen if I do is my asthma act up severely... well, how am I gonna use my breathing machine if there's no electric? The hospital over here didn't even have electric (I'm on the North Broward hospital grid)
Good luck and stay safe! Let's hope we all get through this as quickly as possible and that it isn't as bad as last year!
I hope you can find a solution to your problem and maybe we will get lucky this time..
Good luck and you stay well and safe also
Here's hoping we get through the season without another one of these kind of events..
I experienced gas shortages here on the Louisiana gulf coast last year with Rita and Katrina. Anything I could say y'all have already said. There's got to be a better way!!
We've made a disaster supply kit with water, granola bars, canned fruits, veggies, etc. Candles, batteries, you name it. Even put copies of important papers in our kit. (Which is the biggest plastic tupperware box like thing I could find) We also included clean undies and socks!
I have a great idea if you need a bigger container to use for your supplies...A new plastic garbage can with a tight lid..I remember after hurricane Andrew hearing on the radio of a woman who did that in the most damaged part of of Miami and was the only one around who didn't lose all their important papers and things...
I'm so disorganised my hurricane supplies are in different rooms of the house...well, now they are together since I did put them together on Tues this week.
I don't want to drive anywhere and use up my precious gas,,,LOL
