The text part of this journey Our Trip to New York City: Part I.
Thanks to Jessie Voigts for putting these photos inline for me! Much appreciated, Jessie !

The New York City skyline, as seen from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, on a typically hazy day.

The Chrysler Building, as seen from the Empire State Building.

A gold-topped building, as seen from the top of the Empire State Building. I Googled "gold-topped building, NYC,"but could not find anything on this building.

Looking down 86 floors from the Empire State Building, onto the street below. Often, you can see 8 city buses, 6 taxis, 2 passenger cars and a bicyclist jockeying for space at the intersection.

Macy's flagship store on 34th street, Herald Square. Eight floors of merchandise, and several restaurants, including Starbucks. The eighth floor also has an exhibit of hand-made goods from Rwanda, with all profits donated to Rwandan relief efforts.

Times Square at night. Times Square is actually quite big and includes the Theatre District, as well as the famous building from which the Ball on New Year's Eve is dropped.

New York, New York, 'the city that never sleeps.' Times Square, again, at night. You'll never be lonely in a crowd.
.

This photo is interesting. 6 young woman on a bicycle. The photographer was the guy who rode this bicycle-contraption around Times Square, stopping only to pose for photographs.
Anything for a buck, eh?

Times Square is definitely bright, but not like actual daylight, but still much brighter than any other street you will see in the US at midnight.
It was a wonderful vacation....except the traffic getting into the city..and the walking....I'm spoiled here in Boston, a smaller geographic area, but still Eastern Seabord anc cultural.
someday!
No accounting for New Jersey...
Jessie, big thumbs up for helping! You are our photographer laureate at Gather.
So vibrant...and yes, a big THANKS to Jessie !
Had been in Chinatown the day of the bicentennial...
Missed the Village this time around.
I'll take a look.
Oh, how I love the city!
So, does Tom Hanks look good in person?
Last year, Conan O'Brien was embarrassed that he had been spotted in a bookstore and written up in the newsaper.
I think what upset him most was that his famous bouffant was covered by a baseball cap, and that he was reading a book of 'poetry.'
Good to know he's not a disappointment !
