A woman is Cassandra-like, waiting for her lover, facing the black sea, but he doesn't come and she must turn away, angel, turmoil in white.
It took quite awhile to create that wing out of her shoulder.
Which is my shoulder, which is me, a photograph my daughter took, a poem that expressed my sadness at the loss of a lover.
The poem is inspired by the photograph and by Margarite Duras's, "The Malady of Death," and the film, "Wings of Desire" (Wenders').
John, I love Rilke, but don't know Handke, and can see I must begin visiting the library more often! A "figment of our transcenance" is very nice... and you've taught me a new word for abundance.
Rose, Dan, Jan, Chris, Christin, Jill, Magi, Carol, Jessie... you've each given me lots to think about - you're all angels on this angel...
