Giants of Science: Dr. Alexander Luria

Â Shown here is the brilliant Russian neuroscientist and writer Dr. Alexander Luria.

Â Here is an older Luria on the right. Unfortunately he is now deceased.

Â Luria was a psychologist who wrote a famous book on the brain. It was one of the few Russian science books that have been translated into English.

Â This is Luria in his prime.

Â I have presented a lot of pictures of Luria because it is very difficult to find pictures of Russian neuroscientists except for Pavlov and Korsakoff.

I read his book Mind of a Mnemonist a few years ago and found it a fascinating read. In it he painted a scientific portrait of a patient with a mnemonic memory in relatively easty-to-understand language.
