I was happt to hear the story that broke yesterday on Paramount Studios not renewing their contract with Tom Cruise.
I say it is about time. Never been much of a Tom Cruise fan, except for Top Gun. I did not appreciate his character in Rain Man and never viewed the Mission Impossible series - I liked the television show and will keep that memory instead.
What he did in the public this past year in regard to Brooke Shields and medication was enough for me to lose respect for him as a person and actor.
The way he talked to Matt Lauer on The Today Show was appalling and then that bouncing on the couch on Oprah.
I also have no interest in seeing photos of his baby or if they marry. He is too short to be a leading man and lashes out at people to make himself feel taller.

ROFL!! No doubt!

I agree about his weird behavior, but the reason that I haven't seen his last couple of movies is mainly because they didn't interest me.
You got almost all of it in one box. It is important that Tom Cruiz the actor be viewed seperate from Tom Cruiz man. His film work will last much longer in the public eye than his acrobatics at the Opra school of couch gymnastics and manic men off meds.
Ta ta, TC.
I live in Los Angeles and dated a guy that lived around the corner from the Scientology and I did not even like parking near it. One time I went there for some pamphlets since I had taken a test not really knowing what it was at some site and it really was like visiting a museum - all quiet and too clean.
I understand that Tommy boy had the same PR person for over a decade and although he never came off as 'Mr. Personality,' he never weirded me out. After he hired his sister as PR, started jumping on Oprah's sofa, and became the driving force behind the anti-psychology movement my feelings changed. For the first time I debated seeing MI III just because he was in it, even tough it is a genre I usually enjoy. I did see the movie and liked it, but that was despite of Tom Cruise, and all because of J. J. Abrams (the genius behind 'Lost').
It seems like Paramount smelled the stink and made a wise decision to back away. I think Cruise and company are more likely to irritate than endear themselves to the American public from now on. Already he seems to be drawing the Michael Jackson sort of fanatic fans. If there isn't a wholesome adage that you can only talk so long about being an expert on something you clearly have no understanding about, then there should be, and Tom Cruise should be on the poster.
The whole Katie Holmes episode is just plain odd. Judging from photos, if any woman is suffering from postpartum depression it is her. Quite frankly, I'm hoping she leaves the squinty-eyed midget and takes her sperm donor baby with her. To honor one of my favorite episodes of Southpark 'Force him out of the closet!'
